I'd recommend seeing it at IMAX in 3D. Much better experience.

The reason it gets a lot of hate here is because it's the cool thing to do.

Many people automatically hate it because it's the highest grossing movie of all times (they also hate Cameron)...but I wish folks would just separate that from the actual greatness of the movie itself..yes...it's great in my eyes...spectacular in fact.

Okay, I was going to stay out of this thread. But that annoys a smidge.

I don't care about being cool and I don't like or dislike Cameron any more or less than anyone else in Hollywood. I also think Aliens was a great movie. It's my favorite in the series. But the idea that people can't legitimately dislike or just be uninterested in the movie or have different tastes rubs me the wrong way. You know I loves ya man. But I gotta disagree with you here.

If you guys love it great. I'm happy for you. But when I see comments like it's the best film of all time (better than Citizen Kane, Gone with the Wind, Lawerence of Arabia, To kill a Mockingbird, Godfather, Bride of Frankenstein, etc. really?) you know there is a bit of a lack of objectivity going on. Lots of movies I like but I would never presume to proclaim they are the best ever or people are wrong for not liking them.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Um, okay, you know that was not really the point I was making.

Those are are examples of movies celebrated for their excellence. I'm also totally cool with people having differences of opinions on movies. I don't think you are wrong for not liking it. Not exactly one of my favorite movies either.

Agreed. Definitely great acting, especially To Kill A Mockingbird.

IMO, Avatar is mostly eyecandy peppered with mediocre acting. Yes, a good film but I don't see it holding up against other movies that stood the test of time. Alien has far more substance even though the story line is a re-hash of other films in the past, only set in space and the future, which I dig.

Looking forward to your opinion, Mike.

That and an Over the Top Predicable Movie threwout , that you knew what was going to happen next, as if you saw everything in something Else as far as the Basic Story Goes, as well as in American History for the most part. I'm more Amazed by what Linsay Lohan Does next.
