I agree with that thinking completely. However I also agree with D that Peyton's the smartest QB there ever was. And not by accident. I have heard several coaches say that Peyton studies film and prepares like no one ever has. That's why he gets to call his own plays. He is able to read defenses better then anyone because he is more prepared than anyone. However, all of the would be moot if he was behind a crappy offense line.

Good weekend for me as well...
Local high school team is 3-0...off to a great start with a gritty team.
Arkansas Razorbacks are 3-0...go down to Georgia and b-slap the dawgs in the last :30.
Bring on Bama in Fayetteville this Saturday.
San Diego Chargers WHIP Jacksonville after that sloppy game in KC.Comment

Don’t get me wrong D he is a great quarter back, but my point was he is only so good because of the protection he gets, do you really think he would be as good if he had the Giants weak offensive line standing in front of him????
It seems the Giants line gets weaker every year, the ball is snaped Eli takes two steps back and he has to scramble in order to stay alive....."Time to nut up or shut up"-Tallahassee

I also wondered why Shanahan didn't call a timeout and thought maybe he didn't trying to use reverse psychology (in other words, the Texans expecting a timeout but by not calling one....maybe icing the kicker as well but didn't happen). If the Redskins could just get a running game going, keep the injuries down, we should be in good shape.
Watching Dallas lose, the Giants lose, and even though the Eagles won (it was just a squeaker against the Detroit Lions) and I think McNabb is going to eat the Eagles alive when they face each other.
The Skins have a tough schedule for sure but I am looking at it and think they can honestly win 10 to 11 games this season without deluding myself.
The Texans....good for them. They beat the Colts and the Redskins which should tell everyone that they have a football team that any opponent should be scared."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

Dallas fans are trying to figure out how they lost the to the Skins last week after pretty much owning them for 59 minutes as well. Sometimes the better team loses, the "any given Sunday" rule.Comment

I told him come talk to me when Dallas wins a game or two against someone of any significance. Afterall, all of the talking heads have said that Washington would be lucky to win 8 games this year and the Bears aren't even mentioned when NFL is discussed.
But that's how it goes between one of the biggest rivalries in football. You might as well throw any odds maker book away when these two play. Emotions on both sides reach a level that often the team that is not supposed to win ends up taking victory. I will never forget the year when Dallas was in rebuilding mode (I think it was when Aikmen, Smith, et al were rookies). The Redskins were playing super bowl caliber football in those years....Dallas won a single game that year and it was against the Redskins...go figure."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

Yeah, I wasn't trying to say that Dallas is any great team this year. I have been telling everyone that they are not as good as advertised. I wouldn't be surprised to see them miss the playoffs this year and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Skins in it. I just got a chuckle from your comment "I am still trying to figure out how we lost that game after owning that game for the most part" as that was EXACTLY how I felt about last weeks game. I felt Dallas was the better team that day and outplayed the Skins, only to lose the game in the last 5 seconds of each half.Comment

When I said own the game; I not only meant in stats but points as well. We were winning 27-10 in the 3rd quarter and seemed to be almost scoring at will. Things fell completely apart after that."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

Very happy to see my Bears doing better then expected. I loved the trade for Jay Cutler last year and quite a few guys told me I was nuts but I stuck by Jay. Well I still may be nuts but Jay is showing what he can do now that he is playing in a REAL NFL offense.
A friend of mine is a mega-huge Redskins fan and I told him before the season started that I thought the Skins would win the division. He also looked at me like I was nuts. The Cowboys have plenty of talent but there is just something that I can't explain that makes me think they are not a Superbowl bound team."Never take a person's dignity: it is worth everything to them, and nothing to you." - Frank BarronComment

The Steelers' D gave Chris Johnson one of the worst beatings of his professional career.Towards the end it didn't even look like he wanted to be out there. It was a very physical game; helmets, shoes and fists were flying.

Yes, I agree. I think Kolb's first couple of games when he looked sharp were a fluke. I don't think he will ever amount to anything. Which is why I am very sad to see him pulled! I was really hoping for a down year for the birds!Comment

Dallas essentially has two head coaches in Phillips and Garrett. That whole situation is sketchy because Garrett was passed over for the head coach spot and Phillips couldn't name his own coordinator. Factor in how involved Jones is with day-to-day operations (directly responsible for hiring a passive coach that would let him dictate who his O-coordinator would be) and I don't know who would want to be Head Coach.
One thing's for sure: If Dallas loses to Houston this week, one of the two will be gone and the other will only finish out the season.
John Gruden and/or Bill Cowher will both tell Jerry Jones, "no, thank you" when he comes calling at season's end.Last edited by saildog; Sep 22, '10, 5:02 PM.Comment
