Yep, that makes me feel old. 
S.R.V. was certainly one of those guys who got a lot of his tone from his fingers. I bet that guy could have played the crappiest guitars through the worst amps and still sounded like himself. Not a lot of guys can put that much emotion into their playing. He was truly an inspirational player.
