What toy do you own that has the most sentimental value to you??

What toy or toys do you have that hold the most sentimental value to you? Something you could never part with no matter what or something thats valuable to you that you could never sell? A toy that youve had since childhood and have a great story to tell about how you got it.

Mine is definatley my red haired, jungle safari AJ.
He's in such poor shape from the play as a kid that he has a wooden leg (actually an POTA brown leg), his nose was completley cut off and rebuilt using glue, his face has been painted dozens of times trying to restore his original good looks and needless to say his elastic is loose.

That said, I would sooner give away my entire mego collection than part with AJ. I could tell tons of stories about him, but I'm at work right now.

Well, I dunno about a great story to tell, but I still have my very first toy which is a lion cub. I'm really happy my mom kept it, b/c we purged a lot of stuff when we moved from NY to CA.

        My Corgi Batmobile ...
My mom bought me it at the local drugstore when I was sick and took a day off of school around 1971-ish.
        I had it from 1971 to 2010.

I had to sell it a while ago because I needed the money badly and had no choice.

Today it still pains me thinking about it.

          There are a couple.
In 1975, when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth (), I found a Fighting Furies Captain Peg Leg. My Dad didn't approve, seeing it as "a doll". For girls.
When I set my sights on a Lone Ranger next, he said I'd never get allowance again if I bought it.
          I bought it.
He didn't cut my funds, though....
But he still kept a short leash. When we went to Wales (Bangor), he had said I didn't need a vacation fund, I could pick what I wanted.
In a small store, my eyes went wild, because they had ALL the SW 12 inches!!!!
In Belgium, we had boring old Luke, and Leia (with hair combing action).
After calming down, I wanted Vader and Chewie (not to mention all the others), but I could only pick one. So please note down 14 inch Darth, as another prized possession.
Later on, my Dad did develop an appreciation for my collection....

My best childhood friend, in the whole wide world, was Mego Kirk. He ruled my figure collection, going on all the adventures I had. Once, he took a dive from the roof (five floors down), into the turtle tank of my best friend. Kirk was unscathed (he was totally awesome), the turtles needed some serious counseling....
So add James T. Kirk to my list. Can I add that the Bionic Woman was his girlfriend? Only he could handle a woman like that....

            Well, since you asked...

I bored everyone with this story before, but since you asked, here it is again

I received a Mego POTA Tree House as a Christmas present around 1974-1975, I'm guessing. I loved this set. We kept all of our toys in the attic and I can clearly picture myself up there for several years setting up different figures in it. We moved from Hershey, PA (home of the best chocolate bar!) to the next town over around 1976-1977, and my parents didn't want to be moving a ton of toys, so we were forced to put all of the larger stuff (and most of the small stuff) out at our yard sale the summer we moved. I can remember me holding the $2 I got for the treehouse in my hands and trying to decide which I wanted more, the treehouse or the $2. Since I was being basically forced to sell the treehouse, it was a moot point. To this day, my brother argues that the treehouse was his, and he let me play with it. However I clearly remember getting the $2 for it, so I know he is wrong. Anyway, we move to our new house and I soon put the treehouse in the back of my mind. 2 years later (at least I think it was 2 years later, it might have been only one) we are hitting some yard sales and, believe it or not, we end up at the home/yard sale of the dude who bought my treehouse for his son. He has it out for sale and it's in the same box with the same $2 written on the flap in marker! I can't even begin to describe the disbelief/excitement/wonder that went thru my mind when I saw that. That was the fastest that $2 ever came out of my pocket to date. He remembered us and told me that his son had never even taken it out of the box! So, I get it and take it home. Now, this is about 8th grade for me, and it wasn't very cool to be playing with action figures and playsets in 8th grade back then. At least not in my neck of the woods. So, the treehouse stays in the box and eventually gets put in storage in the attic and I pretty much forget about it.

Fast forward to 2001. The new POTA movie is released and I watch it in the theater on opening night. Not a movie that is going to win any academy awards, but still awesome to see a reimagining of POTA. I leave the movie theater pumped up and remembering how much I loved the movies, TV shows and toys years before. I go home, log on to ebay and buy a loose treehouse for $150. Before it even gets to my house, my mom calls me and tells me that they are moving into a modular home in a nice quiet over 55 community and I have stuff stored in the attic, do I want to come and get it or should they throw it away?

I realize - OMG! my treehouse was stored in the attic! I break all know speed laws driving over there, feverently wishing that I could have invented a Star Trek transporter to get there quicker. I pretty much spread my wings and fly into the attic looking thru stuff. AND THERE'S MY TREEHOUSE! If I couldn't begin to describe my feelings when I found it 2 years after selling it, imagine how difficult it is for me to put into words how I felt at that point.

Well, to make a long story longer...That was the beginning of my addiction. I soon spent all of my kid's college funds on all of the different boxed and unopened Treehouses (except the Gift Set, I don't think I will ever get that one) and then moved on to figures. I upgraded the Treehouses and boxes several times until I now have some pretty sweet sets. I don't think I will ever be able to upgrade to anything better and don't feel the need to. But I do still have that loose tree house and I shall never part with it again.

My original Star Wars Chewbacca figure.

Back in the 70s, one of the other kids I went to school with brought his brand new Star Wars figures to school one day - the day I learned the meaning of the word "Covet!" I told my parents about the figures. I guess my mom called his mom to find out where they came from and my parents told me that we would go to the toy store on Saturday to see if they had any. The store was Lionel Leisure City. The figures were on the left. They had 5 different figures: Luke, Darth Vader, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and C3PO. My dad said that I could get 4 of them. Obviously I would get Luke and Darth Vader. Chewbacca was an easy choice too. In trying to decide between R2-D2 and C3PO, I had to calculate the play value - I got C3PO because he was bigger! We then went to eat at a diner a couple of blocks up the street where Luke and Darth Vader recreated their classic Death Star duel next to the salt and pepper shakers (yeah, I know, Luke and Darth Vader didn't duel in Star Wars, but this was the beginning of my revisionist history of the film )

Anyway, Darth Vader eventually lost his head (literally), Luke Skywalker was buried in the sand and I could find him, and C3PO lost his hands. All three of those little guys were thrown away and replaced. But I still have my original Chewbacca. After all, he was the toughest of the bunch! So that's why he's probably the toy that has the most sentimental value to me; he was one of the original 4 figures from that first day at Lionel Leisure City that began years of awesome adventure!

Oh, you know how C3PO is, he's always getting himself into some kind of trouble.

It was a Fuzz Head G.I. Joe Land Adventurer. I loved that figure. As a bonus, I have an older brother who must have owned some of the original Joe's because there were a whole bunch of outfits around the house that look like they belonged to an original G.I. Joe.

Mego Kirk and Spock that my dad purchased for me way back in the 70s.

He took me to Gemco (the Target of its day)...and he said pick two...mind you...all the superheroes and POTA's were on display too...I chose Kirk and Spock.

They are still with me...a little bit up...but I won't ever sell those.

Another great topic! This is an easy one for me. I used to have a Hot Wheels car that was my favorite and I loved to play with when I was young. It didn't make it through the years, although a hand full of them I still have, and while I remember what it looked like I did not know it's name or series. I had heard about eBay so one day in May of 2001 I decided to sign up and see if I could find that car. Not only did I find a mint one for $45 but the an entire series of events (long story-got sniped and decided to learn about bidding) ended up with me meeting my wife Maggy on the eBay bidding board.

The car, while not even close to the most valuable item I own, is still my most favorite piece. I will never part with it. It turned out that it was from a series called Farbs and the car is named Hy-Gear. Here is a thumbnail of one and you can click on the pic to see a larger photo.
