      I watched it every week(pretty sure it was on Saturday night) because it came on before a show that I liked. That's also the reason I watched Hee Haw and Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom on Sundays(it preceded the Disney programming!).

              I remember both of those shows ( I still have one ep of Spencer recorded here somewhere).

              And for you fans of John Byner's Bizarre. You might like to now that in Canada a number of dvd (and vhs) volumes were released

                      No, Spencer was a regular comedy sitcom in the mid 80's
