Arnold still had the best body ever in body building, now it's become a joke,The biggest guy wins

Yes Van Damme was more ripped but Sly was pretty big(Rocky 4 for example)

In my opinion, Stallone's assessment is not necessarily wrong, but it isn't as simple as his statement, either.

I think the Action Genre, that he helped established, failed because its success became a presumption. Those movies got worse as time went on because they were just throwing out any old slop to capitalize on past success. It is a natural progression.

For every Stallone, there was a Van Damme and for every Van Damme there was some other actor reinventing themselves as an "Action Star". "First Blood" led to "Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot", "Terminator" led to "Jingle All the Way", "Die Hard" led to "Hudson Hawk"....

See where I am going with this? It was as natural as being a victim of your own success and the law of diminished returns came into to play, as it has with any genre.

And just because the bulk of his films have been in the action genre' does not, in anyway, discount him. Many of those films are iconic and remain hugely popular to this day. And the critics here have seen most of them. Not only that but he has also written and directed most of the films he has been famous for. And to discount the guy for steroid use when you sit down and watch players get paid to compete in baseball and football and you never give it a second thought? Please! How is HE cheating? He's not stupid. He understood his physique was PRODUCT and he busted his arse to make it so. No plastic suits; no CGI; no body doubles. That's all him. And if he did use steroids to enhance his appearance, how exactly is that cheating in HIS profession? You think Arnold didn't? How many heart issues has the Terminator had? A couple at least. Stallone? Zilch. Does that mean he didn't? Of course not. But to discount this guy as if he is just another Stephen Seagal dunce is pure lunacy. Even the likes of Harrison Ford never would have been famous without Lucas and Spielberg. Stallone has only needed himself and he has been successful as an actor, director, writer for the past 35 years. All steroids huh? No skills huh? Let's see the big bad critics here pump some iron with steroids and duplicate Stallone's career and see how easy it comes to them. Would anyone even want to see you with your shirt off, let alone pay for it?

He's 64 and looks great, but there's no need to make a comment like that. I'm guessing he's seeing the end of his career coming soon, and maybe feels that he doesn't need to play the politics anymore, and can basically say what he wants. Knowing him, this doesn't really seem to fit his character, especially given the ride he's had in this industry and the jillions of dollars he's made... I was a little surprised he came out with this, myself.

I'll see him at the premiere of Expendables, I'll ask him what's up and report back.

Kooky opinions aside - I bet that's going to be one awesomely fun premiere!

I don't think Steven Seagal has worked his butt off to look the way he does.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Yes he has...but in a different manner.

Seagal is a A 7th-dan black belt in aikido...that's a lifetime of dedication right there.

                        He's just not a bodybuilder...that's not his thing...never has been...never will be...that's all.

I kind of view Seagal and Chuck Norris in a similar manner. Crappy movies, crappy actors, but when either of them kicked arse on screen, I just knew they could back it up because...well, they could.
