I admit it, one of my many quirks. I have been an Elvis fan since childhood. My favorite is the Aloha from Hawaii concert in 72. That was most definitely the pinnacle of his career. I saw Harry Mann in concert back when he was just about the only Elvis impersonator around. Now they are called "Elvis Tribute Artists". The best is Shawn Klush http://www.shawnklush.com. If this concert ever comes near you and you are an Elvis fan, do yourself a favor and go see it. It will blow you away. It's is the next best thing to the real deal. I usually see him at the Schuylkill County Fair every year, but he isn't going to be there this year due to the fair messing up their scheduling, so I went to the Pittston Fair this past Friday, which he does every year as that is his hometown. GREAT concert. He did all my favorites. It was almost a 2 hour drive and didn't get home until after 1AM, but well worth it. My wife and 12 year old daughter even went along and had a blast.

The only good thing about living in Memphis a few years ago was getting to visit Graceland twice.
Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?Comment

Yeah, Graceland is another thing every fan should do if they get the chance. I finally got to visit a month ago when we flew into Memphis on the way to Adamsville for a photo shoot. I love they way they preserved the 70's look and feel of the place. All in all a very cool experience.Comment

I'm not a huge fan, but I did see him in concert. Front row, slightly off center. My mom is a super huge fan and her best friend worked at the box office at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland. I remember all the ladies storming the stage and being escorted out the entire time he played. I held onto my mom's arm the entire time. I thought if she stood up they would take her out too. Because they were all being marched right past us to the exit...Comment

I'm hit and miss with ELVIS...however, I'm pretty dang keyed into his
more well known songs... they mean a lot to my sense of rock history."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

I do like Elvis and even got the chance to go to Graceland. I was actually surprised at how small the place is. I guess the image of the man is so large that a 1950's "mansion" pales. It was cool though.
As far as impersonators go I don't much care for them. 6 years ago I shot a demo video for a guy who would dress up like Elvis but didn't move, or sound like him. However the guy was fat and loved to pop pills, smoke dope and throw back the booze. The things we do for money right? Interestingly enough the crowd where we were loved him. I mean really loved him. It's crazy.
In the end there was only one Elvis and he's dead. All these other guys need to find something better to do with their lives. I appreciate the fact that they do bring some joy to the lives of die hard fans but honestly I have to scratch my head. They have talent and the ability to entertain, I just wish they would tap their own potential instead of just following the steps of a guy that's been dead for 33 years. Who knows what they could do to further the style and genre of entertainment that Elvis helped create.
Okay.... now I'll shut up.Comment

I love Elvis' music and watching/listening to the concert footage and recordings that exist. Not a big fan of any of his movies, though.
One thing every Elvis Fan needs to take in, at least once, is Elvis Week. I went in 2002 for the 25th Anniversary and it was an amazing and interesting few days, to say the least. The Anniversary Concert at the Pyramid Arena was something I will never forget.Comment

I've always liked Elvis and his music. I'm kind fond of Dixie Land. I went to Stone Mountain in GA and they played that during the laser light show. The laser outlined the figures on the mountain while the song was playing and they rode off the side of it. Then at the end of the song they came back from the other side and took their place back on the mountain. One of the coolest things I've ever seen.sigpic WANTED: Boxed, Carded and Kresge Carded WGSHComment
