I am not sure if it would work with Windows 7, but this device might have saved you some money (I own this and it works wonders for file transfer because in hooking it up you have to do nothing, just plug into a usb port on each pc, or pc/mac)

        Hmmmm....

I don't get new computers so often either. (Most of the one I was using until a year ago was at least 15 years old.) Transfering data is kinda heartbreaking. Back in the 5.5 floppy days I had a ROOM filled with notes, essays, articles, research.... Transferred it to 3.5 diskettes and it was reduced to a bookshelf. Transferred it to CD and it was a tower, transferred to thumb drive and my entire life's work fits on a stick. A SMALL stick. Very distressing....

Well, the more I mess w/ this thing, the more I hate it. Windows 7 wants to keep changing my desktop photo, and doesn't even offer a "don't change" option and I can't load a pic for it from a disc. AOL 9.5 offers less options than the old versions did. I can't program sounds I could program in before b/c it no longers offers the choice. A file that 8.0 would load is too BIG for this version. I'm really sorry I had that guy come out today, b/c I will probably take this thing apart and put it back in the box and use my old one. Yeah it was slow and tempramental, but it was still better than this thing.

          Yeah, this toally SUCKS.

Maybe if you've still got all your old disks you could reformat the new one and put all your old stuff on it. (Once you get the hang of it, "format: C" solves ALL problems.)

None of my old software will work in this thing. Did I mention I also have to get a new scanner? My old one won't work w/ this new PC. That's such a waste. There's nothing wrong w/ it. Well, I'm not being a slave to technology and have my options taken away. This thing's going bye bye!

Your new pc will do everything you want x1000 compared to your old one. You just have to be patient and work your way around. Why are you using aol at all. AOL has long been a dead company.

Is it because of the system, or just because of Windows 7? W7 has the problem of being real finicky about older software, including drivers. But if you reformat the drive on the new computer; wiping everything off it, and reinstall Windows XP it might work with all your old software.

I see what your saying and that will work, but it shouldn't have to be done. Windows 7 rocks and it's just user error, sorry hardygirl

I was told by the Geek Squad guy that the software is just too old for the current systems.

Windows 7 isn't. That's why so many people have problems with it. If you get a new system with all new stuff it works great. If you're using your old software.... not so great. Even simple stuff, like printer drivers, don't always work.

Thank God my printer still works. He printed my invoice on it.

Here this might help you with some of the settings you are looking for in Windows 7:

                              god mode

I kinda have a hard time trusting online fix-it sites. If something goes wrong, there's no one I can blame and it'll cost more money to fix the problem. Thanks for trying to help though.
