As far as I'm concerned, the problem wasn't the ump making the bad call (though he did). It's that baseball's rules allow for bad calls like that to stand. I'm hoping this injustice expands instant replay beyond home run calls.

The ump (Jim Joyce) isn't an idiot and doesn't deserve to be fired over this... he's a pro with over 20 years experience that made a bad call on an important play. I have absolutely no doubt it will weigh heavily on him for the rest of his life, but listen to his post game interviews and tell me that guy isn't a class act.

I'll tell you this: I am MUCH more upset at the usher at Dodger Stadium who interrupted me to discuss some peanut shell droppings that were falling on people in the row beneath me -- yeah, I missed a TRIPLE PLAY because of that.

Yeah my prob is not with the umpire. The man is human and he has gone out of his way to say he was wrong. My prob is why the heck can't it count. If even the umpire who called it says he was out and the next batter flied out to end the game changing it in no way, then why can't baseball say it was over with the miscall? Stupid baseball pompous jackholes.

Yeah i was watching the game and got totally into It my Son and i jumped for joy when we saw the play then i noticed Joyce was making the safe sign...which I screamed even in fast speed with the naked eye he was out....biggest bone head call i ever saw for a regular season game. MLB should over turn that call and give Galarraga his Perfect game!!

I agree, i think it should be overturned

I know he's human and he has 20+ years under his belt...but it wasn't even that close of a play and if anything on a huge *** call like that you should give it to the guy throwing the perfect game not the runner

If this same guy were to blow a call later on let's say in a World series and it was your team...what then? But yeah baseball has to do something about IR

Human is one thing....blind is another even the Blind guy saw he was safe ....Everyone, even the runner knew he was out.......MLB get it right and overturn that call...that kid deserves it.....20 years of being a good ump down the drain he'll only be remembered for the bonehead call...

It's unfortunate they don't have instant replay in baseball. It's easy for us to say he was safe because we saw it from a different angle.

People make mistakes all the time when refereeing or umpiring games. I did an audio clip this morning from the umpire and he sounded like he was absolutely beside himself for making a terrible call and costing a pitcher a no-hitter. I have watched many soccer matches at all levels which also doesn't have instant replay and have seen games lost over bad calls.

If any of you have ever refereed before at any level and say you have never made a bad call, you have to be lying. Maybe they can give the pitcher the no-hitter that he deserves.
