Agreed but we're not umpiring or refereeing professional games either. I was just trying to make a point that people make mistakes...huge mistakes. That doesn't make him a bad umpire.

I actually thought it was quite admirable for him to step up and say "I screwed up". I think it says a lot about his character.

yeah but a corvette doesn't make up for the moment of pure joy he would have had if the call was made right.

Imagine this guys, whatever it is you do for a job, you do it without flaw for 20 years. One day you make a big mistake but it can be corrected. Do you get fired ? Believe me I'm the first one at a live event yelling at umps and zebras, But this is one of those stories you read 5 years later about the guy not being able to go on cause of all the hate directed his way so he kills himself. I hope i am wrong though.

Yeah my prob is not with the umpire. The man is human and he has gone out of his way to say he was wrong. My prob is why the heck can't it count. If even the umpire who called it says he was out and the next batter flied out to end the game changing it in no way, then why can't baseball say it was over with the miscall? Stupid baseball pompous jackholes.

Agreed. The game was over at that point, so just call it. The pitcher should have walked off the field and refused to endorse the bad call by throwing another pitch...and the rest of the team should have followed. Let MLB sort that out.
