Summer of '74---Anyone of these will do...

      1. Living for the City - Stevie Wonder
      2. Seasons In The Sun - Terry Jacks
      3. Midnight at the Oasis - Maria Muldaur
      4. Hooked On A Feeling - Blue Swede
      5. Band On the Run - Wings
      6. Time In a Bottle - Jim Croce
      7. Rock Me Gently - Andy Kim
      8. Rock the Boat - Hues Corporation
      9. Smokin' In The Boys Room, Brownsville Station
      10. The Night Chicago Died - Paper Lace
      11. Takin' Care of Business - Bachman-Turner Overdrive
      12. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John

I SWEAR there has got to be a K-Tel Record with all these songs that I had to have played to death!!!

Reminds me of walkin' around the Brooklyn side of the Verrazano flyin' a kite and goin' to Wetson's to get a burger, then to Korvettes to look at Toys I couldn't have...

"Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond comes to mind...I remember it playing on the AM radio one night. My Mom worked as a waitress in the evenings and we had to go pick her up at work, my Dad loading me & my sister into the station wagon and us laying in the back area looking out at the stars in the sky through that open rear window while we waited for her to get done. Wearing our pajamas...and remember when it was perfectly ok to ride in the back of the car without restrictions on car seats, booster seats, even seat belts? Heck, I think the seatbelts were shoved down into the cushions out of the way...not that safety isn't important, but that's how it used to be.

"Sugar Sugar" from The Archie's also falls into that same memory.
Thanks for bringing it up again.

Good thread... wow I have so many. One that sticks out is Katrina and the Waves Walking on Sunshine. It's kinda silly but it always picked me up when I was feeling a little down.

this is a tough one...as I obsess over stuff like this...so its stuff
that "has" travelled with me all these years...but here's a good one anyway...

                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DkETTRg0C8

Any of you know that song? (there's no proper vid for it on youtube I can find)

In the summers of '79-'81 at a camp I was at, a counselor used to play
that 1960s song all the time....I think it is the epitome of "cheese"...but,
man, does it pack a nostalgic wallop.
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix

"Seasons in the Sun" by Terry Jacks, or "In the Summertime" with Mungo Jerry.

                      Yep, I'm so there.

Heart's 'Barracuda' puts me right back in the seat of mom's woodgrain station wagon. The Star Wars theme puts me right back in my grandma's dining room which doubled as a play room. 'I'll Wait' takes me right back to 1983 and my class trip to Washington DC.

a song like that for me is Video Killed the radio star.
