manipulated a bit and colors darkened or whatever with Spidey and Supes in
recent movies...but I think THAT mindset would have been safer than going
to a whole different comic design than his iconic one.
Thing is...CAP will appear in more than one Marvel movie...and definitely has
the opportunity to dabble in different duds...so hopefully he'll end up in
something a bit more iconic at SOME point."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

Until I see an actual picture of the uniforms used in the film (and not an artist's design), I put this in the same category as the Alex Ross Spider-Man outfits that were "totally going to be used" in filming. I'll hold judgment for now.An old Irish Blessing - "May those who love us, love us; and if they do not love us, may God turn their hearts; and if He does not turn their hearts, may He turn their ankles, that we may know them by their limping"Comment

That one idea kinda resembles what I'm thinking----sure symbols were
manipulated a bit and colors darkened or whatever with Spidey and Supes in
recent movies...but I think THAT mindset would have been safer than going
to a whole different comic design than his iconic one.

a version of the classic Costume. I'm sure it will be more in line with the Ultimate version.
Comic book version Costumes always get tweeked a bit. Superman's costume usually stays the same because there is no real way to better it. Singer played around with it in returns and many people didn't like it.
Spiderman's is a tweek and doesn't look like a teenager had sown it.
Iron Man's armor comes close but is still a tweek from the Comics
X-Men don't even come close even Wolverine threw a shot at the yellow costume.
Batman in the movies wears armor. Batman Dead End is the Definitive Comic Book Batman come to life.
Adam and Burts are Classic.
Daredevil wears a leather type suit. Nothing like the comic
Fantastic Four is a tweek but not the classic costumes.
Watchmen had some changes in the costumes.
Supergirl Dead on
Wonder Woman Lynda Carter Dead on
No matter what the costumes are going to change somewhat but in the end the story still has to be the selling point......Comment

I'm sure when Cap comes to the Modern time there's a better chance of seeing
a version of the classic Costume. I'm sure it will be more in line with the Ultimate version.

I agree that story is very important, but there is also a business perspective to this approach and that is product recognition. You don't get so engrossed with a concept that you lose what people know in the process. How many times has that happened? Quite a bit. Captain America is very much one of the premiere Marvel Flag ships, like Spider-man. And if they lose the character in a story that otherwise is very good, then what the studio is making is a very expensive cult classic. The die-hards will appreciate it, but the consensus will be the studio left out the general public and wrote this for the fan boys. They lose. Sure, you can tweak any outfit to fit with story needs and a general "selling" of the idea, but you still have to remain true to the original look. That concept sketch could be ANYONE. It does not look like Captain America by any stretch of the imagination. Any way you carve it, that is a mistake. There is no brand recognition.
IronMan who has a history going back to the 60's had never been in the movies and so Tweeks had to be put in place to sell the movie better to the general buying audience who make blockbusters....but they were smart enough to leave in just enough nuggets for the Fanboys.Comment

I will say I actually like the ultimates interpretation of the cap uniform and as a ww2 reenactor I think it's cool BUT
I'm with chris they could easily do the iconic Kirby uniform with a vintage cotton or even wollen flannel and then replace that with a syhtentic fiber/leather/latex for the thawed out modern era scenesComment

to the iconic outfit IMHO that as soon as I started watching the
actual movie, I didn't even NOTICE the differences in costume.
If CAP or any other hero movies can accomplish this with an outfit tweak
than I think that's really cool...its a win/win situation for the studio
AND guys like me....the only people that "lose" are the ones that can't handle
the minor tweaks."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment
