My birthday was a few weeks back. I got a fair amount of automatic birthday wishes from forums and a few birthday wishes from Facebook, but I only got one card from my family. A bit of a downer, as my Dad usually sends me a card and some money. Basically, robots loved me more.

    So you're not alone, lol.

Y'know, no matter how old we get, we still like folks to make a big deal of our birthdays. I don't think you ever get too old for cake, ice-cream, cards and gifts. My bday last year was a bummer b/c my mom was sick. I didn't even want to acknowledge it. This year, however, I plan to celebrate. I'm sorry your family didn't properly celebrate the anniversary of your birth, but maybe you should tell them that you're never too old for a real HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

That sucks man. My 40th was on Tues. Too and I would have been way more bummed about it if my wife hadn't done a bunch of stuff to make it feel special. I feel
for you and happy belated birthday!

Same here. Turned 40 in September...didn't get a thing. But it doesn't bother me at all. Birthday, to me, is like any other day. Hell, the rate at which things move these days...you should get up every morning and thank God (or whomever you may believe in) that you're still alive.

If you feel like you have to get something on your Birthday...send yourself a package with something you really want in it.

I haven't gotten anything for my Birthday for like the last 5 yrs , unless I bought it...., with the exception of a cool box from Anthony last yr. Some of us are not that fortunate I suppose to recieve gifts.

I understand why you're upset, but I wouldn't let it get you down. What you're experiencing is more the norm from what I've seen as we get older. Next year is my 40th and I can say with near certainty I'll celebrating it the same way I have for the past several years. Taking a long weekend mini-vacation a few hours away from where I live.
It's the best gift I get every year!
