Back in the late '80's when I was in college; I had an advanced Finance class where we worked in groups and had to present a case for a company that would make an incredible investment.

Our choice....Apple Computer. Our main argument was that Apple Computer was ahead of its time and had two visionary leaders in Jobs and Wozniak. At the time, Apple was donating computers to Elementary School Children so we also further argued that this strategy would pay huge dividends in the future. Children would grow up using MAC computers (remember this is before home PC's were prevalent) and eventually they would be accustomed to the layout and become brand loyal. We also thought that the true investment wasn't the product but on Jobs himself who seemed to be so far ahead of his time (even back then).

In hindsight, we were correct on a couple of fronts but didn't consider what would happen if Jobs left which he did or Microsoft. I wonder what those shares would be worth today if we had invested real money back then?
