To add a bit to the Kirk story, Lord didnt turn down the role, he had it, but wanted half ownership of the series....Gene and Desilu said No, and we got Shatner instead. I think Lord had a similar deal on 5-0, where he owned part of the show.

As for the show itself..If its stand alone episodes, and not some mess where you have to watch every single episode to know whats going on, I might watch it. I agree that the cast doesnt look quite right for the show--ie: they all look perfect and under 35 years old.

Yeah; that's my problem with stuff too, not just that everyone's pretty but that they're all the same KIND of pretty. Whihc kinda makes me think of the second point here.... Lord wasn't an attractive guy. He kinda looks like someone kicked his face in. 'Course, so does Kevin Bacon and folks found HIM attractive....
I always hate when stuff like this gets remade, 'cos what made the show different had NOTHING to do with the premise. It was a generic cop show. It was the particular combination of actors and their mannerisms that made it different.
