I love Clooney's line in that scene and anytime I go to the guys in IT for help, I will quote, "Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts...?"

I love that about Fargo, it's just soooo damn funny dubbed.

"I gave you simple, fruitful instructions!"
      "No freezing way!"

And of course the simple, deadpan delivery of "Uh-huh; well was he funny looking in any other way?"

I guess I'm a bit "simple" in my tastes but while I think
O BROTHER, ARIZONA and FARGO are tight as heck, some of the greatest
put to film....the other Coen flicks I see as quite "ocassional" watches.

Three great movies ain't bad though

Obviously, you're not a golfer. (quote from Lebowski and a joke on my part...hopefully, you'll laugh at the reference )

You have two of my top three in your list and I could easily place Fargo at the top of any list I have.

Based on that and our prior banter on the subject, I hope you have found room in your heart for The Big Lebowski.

I think the famous "stranger in the Alps" line is hilarious. It's such a bizarre non-sequitur, you just have to laugh.

I think I read somewhere that they actually take part and supervise that stuff, so it's fun to think of the Coens, sitting in the studio, cackling like banshees as they come up with weird TV dialogue.

As for favorites: I love The Big Lebowski, Barton Fink, Raising Arizona, Fargo, O Brother, and No Country for Old Men. And I've been watching Miller's Crossing a lot lately. And Blood Simple, their first movie, is a really effective thriller. The Hudsucker Proxy I think is really one of their underrated ones. It has some seriously funny moments, and I love the '40s era screwball dialogue ("Hiya buddy! My name's Buzz, I got the fuzz, I make the elevator do what she does!") The whole thing is a very entertaining live-action cartoon. (To really enjoy it, watch a few Frank Capra movies first!) And I love how Jennifer Jason Leigh is playing a character with almost the same exact job as her character in Dolores Claiborne ("you know, one of those fast-talkin career gals")--but she's so different because the genres are so different.

Alright, I should have just wrote "ALL". Any one of their movies is worth delving into.

I have a place in my heart for ALL the Coen Bros. movies I've seen.
They are so good that they derseve that IMHO.

Incidentally, I'm not just sucking up to you by saying this...but
THE BIG LEBOWSKI is the only Coen Bros. movie that I will give 2nd 3rd...
a BILLION chances to fall madly in love with, only due the fact that so many
people are adamant about its brilliance.

I still have to see TBL a LOT more times tho'...and I haven't had the chance, or more specifically....the urge. Rest assured, I'm giving TBL the most
open-minded chance I can give a flick that didn't bowl me over right away.

Torturro is my favorite of their actors. He just fits them.

                        Love Lebowski.

Fargo is a close second. Arizona third. O, brother fourth.

Barton Fink is my favorite for personal reasons, but O Brother Where Art Thou is their magnum opus in my opinion.

I really am in the Coen Brothers Comedy movie camp, although there more serious stuff like does have the occassional dark laugh to it.

John Turturro in Big Liebowski is simply unflinching.
