I just watched "Raising Arizona" a few days ago. It still holds up, even after twenty-three years. I laughed my butt off, especially at John Goodman's character.

Don't care much for Hudsucker Proxy and haven't seen Intolerable Cruelty, The Ladykillers or the latest.

They've had some duds - but even their duds are 99% more interesting than most movies.

"Raising Arizona" is my favorite - because it was the first of theirs that I saw, it's got a youthful manic energy that makes it so exciting to watch, and because it still cracks me up even though I've probably seen it 50 times.

I like everything I have seen from the Coens, but these three movies make my short list of movies I can watch over and over again.

I don't think a day goes by that I don't quote a line from at least one of those three movies.

One thing I really like about the Coens is the actors they cast and how well they mesh with the Coen's vision. They have all of these great actors that work with them multiple times and that tells me a lot about Joel and Ethan Coen.

Burn After Reading had me laughing so hard I was crying. I do love the Coen's way of ending a movie, definitely a style of their own.
And for network TV dubs Fargo is my favorite.

I would never post a link to the ads on here - but there is a new actual parody porno version of The Big Lebowski that just came out.

I actually found out about that last night while trying to google a streaming version of the original movie!

The non-adult parts are ASTOUNDINGLY close to the Coen bros film... like shot for shot in some cases (the Jesus scene). Their version of Walter is really close to Goodman as well. Whoever made it is obviously a big fan.

The trailer for the "parody" version is easily found on youtube and doesn't contain any naughty bits other than language.

I don't think movies like True Grit need to be remade, but, if it is going to be done.....well, hell, I trust the Coens.

AND, I gotta say, I can see Jeff Bridges being a kick-arse Rooster Cogburn.

All I can say is that I trust them, but they better be careful because remaking a classic like True Grit is risky. Especially if it's set in the same period with the same characters like this appears to be. Seriously, they might as well be remaking The Godfather.

I admire their courage and I hope it is a hit. Take a chance like this, do it right, and the payoff could be HUGE. They will be immortal if they pull it off.

Yeah, Big Lebowski doesn't hold up well on local TV.

"See what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?!" lacks the effect of the original dialog.
