He was a unique individual and a great singer. Though he was in the middle of the 60's and 70's rock revolution and the metal scene, he never drank or did any drugs. NOr was he a satanist like many thought. His devil inspired logo and theatrics were tongue in cheek and for entertainment.
I am a huge Rainbow fan and really liked some of his solo stuff. Too bad his revival of ELF will not happen now. They were working on new material.
He now truly is the Man on the Silver Mountain.
ScottI almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.Comment

Ok I guess this is the only time I'll ever get to tell this anecdote.
I was never a fan of Dio. Not my type of music but I can respect that he was a successful and talented musician and it's always sad when people pass away.
Well, I had just started dating this one girl and she went to a Dio concert (without me of course). Some of my other "friends" (who also went to this concert) decided that it would be a fun prank to pull on me that they saw this girl at the concert and she went backstage with the band after the show. Let your mind finish the connection. Rock Band+young women backstage=
I was really mad when they told me that. Of course it all turned out to be a lie later but they didn't tell me that till after I stopped dating her. (It had nothing to do with that situation).
So basically every time I've heard any mention of Dio or Ronnie James Dio since then; that's the only thing I think about.

I'm really bummed that I didn't make it out to see Heaven & Hell. Sharon Osborne aside, I've heard nothing but nice things about him. Another neat person I won't get to meet.Comment

Message from Wendy Dio
Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.

I wasn't a big fan of RJ DIO (my hard rock taste is more sex, drugs, rnr
when it comes to lyrical themes),
but I grew up on Dio's music because I was in the "metal scene" as a teenager
in the 80s, and his presence was unavoidable.
I'm sure I must've sung HOLY DIVER in a few garage jams back in the day.
I met RJ DIO once....I was in a Vegas casino hotel, and spotted him in
a lobby general store cashier line. I approached him and told him it was honor
to meet him because I grew up with his music. I used to carry a book I wrote
featuring an "elf" (even said "elf" in the title) around with me, and like a
typical pain the butt "nobody" looking to make connections, I gave this
celebrity a copy of the book, saying it'd mean a lot to me if he'd have it.
RJ DIO smiled nodded...was pretty cool...and then my brother approached.
My brother had just flew in and had just arrived at this casino to meet me
and saw me talking to this guy. I introduced them to each other, and then
we walked away.
My brother asked who he was ("Why did you tell me that guy's full name anyway?"), and I told him it was the guy who replaced Ozzy
in BLACK SABBATH, and my brother replied: "Oh, I thought he
drove you here from L.A."
Guess that shows what a nice "friendly" aura RJ DIO put off to people around
him....even to complete strangers.
I never DID realize til it was too late that the "elf" book I gave him
could've been construed as a reference to his height, or a reference
to his long ago former band which bore "Elf" as its name.
Big loss to a genre that's been important to me for many years.
R.I.P. DIO"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

There are some people that you just don't picture dying. Dio is one of them. I was a big fan in my metal days, and I was shocked to hear the news. Nothing I say will matter to anyone, current fans most of all, but let me say that I was truly moved by this news and not in a good way.
