What movie are you waiting to show up on Blu-ray?

Obviously most are waiting for Star Wars, but is there any movie you are impatiently waiting for? I am waiting for another Lucas production - American Graffiti. I freakin LOVE that flick and I want to watch it again, but I really want to wait for a pristine blu-ray version.

Sandy, you got any connections out there that can kick Lucas and Spielberg in the butt and get them moving on the blu-ray format?

I want Flash Gordon as well, but there is light at the end of that tunnel as it will be released in a month or so.

Pulp Fiction. A domestic release has been promised for awhile but nothing yet. Oh, and Chaplin's The Gold Rush, City Lights and Modern Times, but it looks like Criterion now has the rights to a bunch of Chaplin films and are currently working on Blu-ray releases. Yay! Tim Burton's "Ed Wood" would be nice too, one of my favourite films.

Since you already mentioned Star Wars, I'll say the original Battlestar Galactica TV series. I don't own it yet, so when I do buy it, I want Blu-Ray.

The last time I saw Steven was at Stan Winston's funeral. :( We talked about the day on "Jurassic Park" when Stan brought Fay Wray to the set, for Steven to meet her. He shut down filming for 2 hours to hang out with her and listen to "King Kong" stories. Pure magic. She died on my birthday in 2004, which was the first funeral service Steven and I were at together.

I only met Lucas a few times when I was at ILM. He was distant and aloof... Pretty uneventful to be honest.

You can pick it up dirt cheap on HD DVD, and the film looks really nice in hi def. Universal has been really slow re-releasing their HD catalog titles when they switched from HD DVD to Blu-ray though, so who knows when a Blu-ray release of the film will happen.

If you are talking about the 1992-95 series, I bet it was mastered to broadcast videotape in standard definition and a blu ray release would not make it any better looking than DVD.

The same problem exists for Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager. They only exist in standard definition broadcast video. To make HD versions of these shows, you need to hope that they kept the original film elements shot on the set and redo the effects.

About what I would want on blu ray, many have covered some titles I want (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc)

I'd love to see Star Trek animated on blu ray and I especially love for movies that don't even have a decent DVD release to be put on blu ray (or at least anamorphic 16:9 DVD) like:

                          True Lies
                          Colossus:The Forbin Project
                          The Abyss

                          There is also:

                          Matinee
Cat People (1982, was released on HD-DVD, but not yet on blu ray)
                          The Sound Of Music
                          Pillow Talk
                          Parent Trap
                          JAWS
1941 (both theatrical and extended versions)

In general, I love any of the technicolor movies of old to come out, they really worked with color back then.

The Exorcist is coming in October, King Kong original is on the way and so is Forbidden Planet.

Yeah, I'll jump on Jaws the day it is released, but that falls under the Lucas/Spielberg fiasco, so who knows when that will be!
