After School viewing: Cartoons vs. Public Television

As much as I post on cartoons, I really didn't star watching cartoons after school until I was about 8. Before that I was all about PBS. I would watch Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, and Electric Company lost past the appropriate pre-school age. I also loved Villa Allegre, Zoom, and on the weekends, Vegetable Soup. And when I got older, The Righteous Apples. (I even ordered a record that never came!) I remember being really mad when our local PBS station replaced Zoom w/ Hodge Podge Lodge on weekdays, and I could only watch Zoom on the weekends.

Anyway, did any of you watch PBS after school as opposed to cartoons?

I was all over the PBS programming. Villa Allegre and Z double O M were awesome!!!
Not exactly an after school cartoon, but Schoolhouse Rock; well.... rocked! I never got tired of those little animations, and we are still enjoying them in our house today. I was also rather fond of the ABC after school special/movie thing.

As a kid I hardly ever watched PBS.
Our local PBS station (channel 13) came in really lousy back in the day.
I never even watched Sesame Street or Mr Rogers.
It wasn't until I got older and we got cable that I had a choice of a few different PBS stations.

Remember the Time for Timer song" Don't drown your Food"? It was Timer's way of warning us about the over-use of condiments.

I'd watched PBS from 4:00 to about 6:30 early on (Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, Electric Company, Zoom). Later on as I outgrew that line-up, it'd be Tom and Jerry at 3:00-4:00 on WPIX and presumably whatever faire they had on after that at the time. I recall at one point Batman was on WPIX at 4:00 for a while, so that was a natural...

^ Frightenstein was definitely WNEW if you were watching out of the NYC area....

I'll go out on a limb and say Magilla Gorilla was WPIX, Lost in Space WNEW or WOR and Scooby Doo on WPIX
