I saw it last night and was very happy with it. Unfortunatelly, I did not stay after the credits. If anyone wants to PM me what I missed, I'd appreciate it. I'm guessing it had something to do with the Avengers movie they will make down the road.
Due to the location, I thought the end credit teaser was going to go in another direction, but I was so glad I was wrong!
I liked Rourke and I even like the way they adapted Whiplash even though it had little to do with the comics and the need movies had to connect everyone directly rather than just having a bad guy sometimes gets to me. (btw did you notice that the bad guy isn't actually whiplash at all - they just added the whiplash element to another bad guy)
Yeah, definitely. But it works. And it's not like those two characters are true standouts of the Marvel Universe. It's not like mixing Dr. Doom with Galactus or something.
The scene at the race track we all saw in the trailers was even exciting. There was much more to it than I expected. Rourke came across as a badarse with nothing to lose.
I actually liked Cheadle better as Rhodey I think. Howard's squeaky voice disturbs me for an Air Force colonel. Cheadle's age makes him and Stark seem like peers, which makes their relationship in this one work better.
Downey Jr. was great as always. This is definitely a case where I really don't think they can recast Iron Man at this point. He covered the highs and lows of Tony Stark well in this movie, and commanded every scene he was in.
I liked that Favreau gave himself (as Happy Hogan) more to do. The part with him and Black Widow was a lot of fun. And man, her fight scenes were very well done. I didn't detect any CGI rubber people. Lots of fast cuts and wire work, I'd guess, but it flat worked.
Iron Man 2 is playing at our local town theater for the next two weeks. I'll probably go see it again! Definitely worth a second viewing.
Ironman 2 OWNS!!!!!! Now that's how you sequel a movie load it up with tons of geek out moments for the fans with good flat out Popcorn movie fun. Loved Black Widow and Jackson as Fury glad they expanded the role more.......I geeked after the end credits....
Saw it last night. Because of my health problems I usually got to the movies with a friend or family member. Last night it happened to be my mom's turn. I figured she'd be bored but she really enjoyed. Then again she is a pretty cool lady.
I really liked it myself and found it better than the first film. I was glad it had a real plot with interesting twists. I am not a fan of Downey but he does a great job as Stark.
Worth seeing and has been mentioned much more kid friendly than the first one.
Ironman 2 Rocked.
I really enjoyed the WhipLash character ..., alot. Rouke was Fantastic IMO.
I didn't really like Don at 1st as Rhodes...., He was too serious, compaired to Howards performance of the character in the 1st flick...., but then lightened up towards the end.
Downey JR ..., was again Brilliant. Tony Stark was made for Him imo.
Fun stuff at the Movies...., and Probably the Best 2 Flicks of a Super Hero , I personally have ever enjoyed.
... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.
We just got back from seeing IM2 (my wife wanted to see it for Mother's Day... does she rock or what?) and we really liked it. The action was great, dialogue good, and as for the scene after the credits... you'll be really, really Thor if you miss them.
I watched it Friday night on DVD at my house (it was a birthday present to myself) on my big screen and I really enjoyed it. I liked it as much as the first one.
Can't wait for the next one now
Capt. Kirk: "Is there anyone on this ship, who even remotely, looks like Satan?"
Mr. Spock: "I am not aware of anyone who fits that description, Captain"
Capt. Kirk: "No, Mr. Spock, I didn't think you would be"
We went for Mother's Day, too. Thank you unseasonably cold weather. I thought it was pretty good, but sagged at verious points. It definitely suffered from a little too much going on. I loved the characters from the first film and we didn't get as much time with them together in this one. Downey still knocks it out, though. It's a good followup, and from what I've seen most people leaving my theatre are much more enthusiastic tnan me.
Got to see it twice, Friday night with the wife and daughter, then Saturday afternoon for my nephew's 11th birthday. Loved it but not as much as the first one. Noticed this the second time around and it really bugged me though.Tony takes the model from his office, drives it home in a convertible, sets it up in his workshop, then leans over and blows the dust off it????
I was very happy with the Rhodie exchange and BW kicked some butt. Some parts were slow but the action was all action.
Wife, daughter and sister all were disappointed that the "You complete me" line from the trailers was cut from the movie.
I saw this opening weekend and enjoyed it a lot, though I thought the first one was better. Lots of great stuff in this one, but still walked away feeling unfulfilled and I'm not sure why. Big disappointment that the big 'you complete me' jumping out of the plane moment wasn't in the theatrical release. Normally I like it when they have different stuff in the trailer than the release, but I thought that bit was great and should have been in the final cut.
Saw it with my sister, who doesn't know a damn thing about the comics, so all the cameos and geekery were lost on her - for example, she has no idea who the Black Widow is or what the significance of the thing found in the scene after the credits - and I think that's why she found a lot of the stuff in the movie pretty uninvolving and contrived. Like how Shield arrived conveniently with the solution to his dilemma.
I actually liked the Howard Stark footage and the paladium dilemma. That bit felt a lot like the Matt Fraction stuff I've been reading in trade.
I finally saw this yesterday and loved it. It may not have been quite as good as the first one, but it was pretty darned close. Can't wait for The Avengers movie!
"Trying is the first step towards failure." - H. J. Simpson, 1997
Saw it again yesterday. Took the boy again and brought along my nephew. It holds up to a second viewing quite well. I was able to enjoy the great dialog a lot more this time.
Yeah i think i dorked out more for the Captain sheild than anything else.
So i agree with most. I think the first one was much better, not saying this one was bad. I would have liked a bit more action. The fanboy stuff was sweet. Lots of setting up for future stuff.
