I haven't said anything either way on the subject. I just know the discussion of legalizing weed is a no no unless the rules have changed.

So the story unfolds. He had residue in a pipe... That's wrist slapping action, not gun action.

The procedure was flawed. 8 days? A total lack of intelligence? The man had his rights violated, absolutely.

Still, I do not blame the Tactical Team. They have a purpose and they fulfill a function. In this case they were sent into a situation that was totally unwarranted. I don't believe that they should be punished for doing what they do. The ones who deserved to be punished are the administrators. They are to blame for the faulty Intelligence. They are to blame for putting the guns in the hands of those men. They are to blame for telling the men to clear the house of any potential threats. Let them suffer the consequences, not the grunts.

Let me stray into the realm of the hypothetical... Let's say that there was a shipment of weed there. The warrant should have still had wet ink on it when it was served! Eight days is ample time to dispose of the evidence -- by selling it.

Anyway you look at it, it's a mess.

I find it strange that legalizing pot is any kind of answer to the problem
here...it makes just a tad more sense than saying it would be nice if
there were "no guns allowed in this country"....its barking up the wrong tree
with logic....as I said before, debating this issue is about "context"
and its not about emotions, or wishes, or whatever Fairy Land
romantic concept about justice that somebody feels as a result of seeing
something that was disturbing to them.
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix

Cigarettes are legal here in Canada, but there is big money to be made on the Black Market, whether it's smuggling them, hijacking trucks, or robbery/B&E of wholesale and retail businesses. It's very a organized business, run by gangs.

Oh, and it is illegal for common citizens to cultivate their own tobacco plants... That's the cigarette companies doing.

I won't even mention distilling a legal beverage...

Who's to say that the same kind of thing wouldn't happen to Pot if it was legalized in the US?
