What total ******s. He took it a lot better than I would have. Of course, I don't do or have drugs in my home. Not even a little pot.

Heartbreaking to lose a dog like that. The dog wasn't even aggressive...he was walking around in the beginning not attacking anyone!!

And poor guy from Canada. Wow that's really horrific.

That is absolutely disgusting. Have they never heard of tranqulisers? Since they had been doing surveillance they knew there were dogs there. Unbelievable. They didn't even do it humanely, you can hear the dog shrieking in pain. W T F?????

I think it's neat. The pitbull was prolly on crack and trained at an obedience school in Pakistan. Too bad they didn't waterboard the Corgi.

That is some of the most shocking stuff Ive seen. I know this can turn political, but I urge everyone to watch a documentry "zeitgiest" . This will be explained in this, what they can do nowadays, plus much much more, very shocking, especially if you are american, and the rest of the world. Has anyone seen it?

From what I read of the 1st article that LadyZod posted,
I'm getting that they wanted to raid the house because it
was a drug trafficking spot (in addition to believing there were drugs in there)?

I also read that they concluded that night was the best time to do the raid.

Its a shame what happened to the innocent dog and that the innocent kid
went through what he went through...but I was under the impression
that those things mentioned in the article could feasibly "add up"
to justify a "raid" of that level.

By the way, the only reason that I'm mentioning this is because I'm thinking
that I may be misreading the article and/or misunderstanding what justifies
a "raid" of this level of strong arm type tactics (busting in a door and
                shooting animals that appear threatening).

This "police/law" type of thing that interests me...and I'll be interested to
see how it plays out, despite that I wasn't aware of the event when it originally happened.

Having had drug dealers living up the street from me I know that it can at times take over a year to have them removed, even when it is absolutely clear what is going on. The dealers up the street were very smart, but eventually we got rid of them.

^ But does it justify cruelty to animals? I think there are a few seperate issues here.

The way I see it is that is that it is indeed one, unified issue.

Unfortunately, its an issue where barking, charging animals can
much more easier be an unfortunate casualty.

Kind of like when a cop shoots a kid with what appears to be a threatening weapon and it turns out to be a toy ray gun. They don't call that
"child cruelty"...its an accident that occurs in the line of duty...or
                      what-have-you.

                      My understanding is...
the police spend all this time investigating and then prepping for a raid
that shuts down the criminals quickly/efficiently...and, unfortunately,
part of that process is shooting any animal that appears threatening...

the same'd apply to humans too...and fortunately for the humans,
they have a chance of NOT getting unduly shot by hearing/understanding
what the cops are saying and obeying them and not appearing to be
a threat anymore...and thus, not get shot.

Again, I'd love to hear a more educated voice on these matters.

Dog=threat. Even if it's currently passive, there's no way to know if it's been trained to attack on command.... or some othe cue. It's possible for such an animal to turn in an instant. SOP would be to take it out/incapacitate it.

just as good as 2 cop fire 40 rounds into to a door killing 92 year old black woman ,realized wrong house, finding no drugs and planting weed on her.

Unfortunately people here are so riled up about the dog being killed
in front of a kid of alleged drug dealers supposedly criminal
enough to require a SWAT team to shut them down,
that they may agree with that entirely incongruous scenario.

In addition, it seems like Don's important words in this thread,
regarding finding out if the research that the person in charge
of ordering this raid did is legit, are being widely ignored.

IMHO the jury's out until we hear about that.

If you send a swat team into someones house and open fire with children around, kill their dogs and basically terrorize them, you better come up with a hell of lot more than half a bag of weed or someones *** is gonna flying from a flag pole.
