Loved, loved, loved The Talisman. Won $100 in a high school writing competition with a pretty obvious rip of the story. Gonna be a mini-series of it, from what I've read.

King is an interesting read, tho I have always enjoyed the short stories over the novels. I think SK has a brilliant imagination and brings about some great characters, but I have mostly found his final thirds lacking. This doesn't seem to happen with the short stories and especially the early ones found in Night Shift or even the Seasons one.
That said, I think my favorite novel would be the collaboration with Peter Straub - the Talisman. I really enjoyed the foray into fantasy with a dark and creepy edge.Comment

King is hit or miss with me.
I did enjoy The Dark Half, even before I became aware of the whole Richard Bachman thing. Of course, once I became aware I felt stupid for not getting the joke to begin with.
Rage disturbed me when I first read it in school.
I can see why with recent events (recent in terms of the last 10-20 yrs) this book is no longer in print.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The dark Tower was at its best in the last 4 volumes imo.
The first volume,at first reading, seemed weird, but fit in nicely with the last ones ending.

I love RUNNING MAN...and that's a movie most would agree was
good if not "great". Your post is the first time I've heard someone refer
to THE RUNNING MAN movie as anything less than "good"."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive.
