Stephen King , got a favorite?

I have been reading Stephen King novels for 25yrs now.I always have one that I am reading. I have re-read most of his stories about 5 times each.
Needless to say I am a fan.
I have liked some of the movie adaptations, but feel they do'nt do the books justice.
I have recently discovered the Marvel comics adaptation of the dark tower series, and found them pretty good.
I have enjoyed his story telling so much, that choosing a favorite is a difficult task.
I will go with Pet Semetary.
I was totally absorbed during my first reading, that I knocked it back in 2 days.
    Any other fans here?

The Shining for me. Although 'Salem's Lot actually scared the poop out of me when I was in junior high. Made the foolish mistake of reading it at home alone one night, and had to arm myself with a knife from the kitchen I got so freaked out. Have read and reread most of his early stuff.

            I also liked Misery.
Was 1 0f the good ones.
            Did'nt like the mist.
I hate it when they change details in adaptations.
            The ending was stupid.
The actual ending from the novella, left their final fate to your imagination.

Yeah,Salems lot, when that dead kid is floating outside the second story window,or when the main character has to drive the stake into his sweetheart at the end.

                Chillers indeed.

The only King book I have read is Cujo, and I thought it was excellent. Not sure why I have yet to read more of his books, I suppose because I always have a stack to get through. My Mom has been reading his books since the beginning, so I have easy access to any of his books I want.

I'm a huge fan of Stephen King, especially of his earlier works, I've been reading his books since I was a teenager and have read practically everything that he's published. IMO, he's never topped what I think is his finest novel, "The Stand". I'm a big fan of his Dark Tower series too (but was disappointed in the "big" ending).

The Stand was pretty amazing. Never read the extended version, though.

Favorite movies based upon King's work: Creepshow, Silver Bullet, and The Dead Zone.

Favorite novel: Under the Dome (some of the best stuff he's ever written IMO). I also enjoyed Salem's Lot, The Shining, The Stand, Cujo, Pet Cemetary, Carrie, and Needful Things.

I did NOT like Duma Key. Hope they NEVER make that into a movie.

King is an interesting read, tho I have always enjoyed the short stories over the novels. I think SK has a brilliant imagination and brings about some great characters, but I have mostly found his final thirds lacking. This doesn't seem to happen with the short stories and especially the early ones found in Night Shift or even the Seasons one.

That said, I think my favorite novel would be the collaboration with Peter Straub - the Talisman. I really enjoyed the foray into fantasy with a dark and creepy edge.
