Toy2,
With that $2450 you made off the Mr Spock, take $500 and put it to the side for treasure hunting. You already have a nice bankroll to treasure hunt with. Don't buy anything over $10 UNLESS you know the value on it and know you will make a good return on it. Buy a bunch of smalls for $2 or $3 and list them. If they sell for $20 each and you have 10 items, thats a $170 - $180 profit before ebay and paypal fees. Thats how I started. Take that good looking lady with you, I am sure she knows designer names. Buy all you can find for under $10, you will easily triple your money on every piece. With all those artsy-fartsy people down in Miami Beach and the art deco section, you should find some great stuff.
If you buy something and find out it is not too valuable, still study up on related items. Just use completed items on ebay to study on. Search highest value first.Last edited by theantiquetiger; Sep 21, '07, 11:56 PM.sigpicComment

As for finding an estate sale, there is a section in our paper just before garage sales for them. I go to almost every sale if I am off.
I rarely go garage selling anymore, pretty much a waste of time. It takes 200 garage sales to find one good find, when an estate sale is almost everytime.sigpicComment

Here is the Dinky that will bring $200 - $300:
1950's DINKY MECCANO JAGUAR XK120 COUPE #157 TOY CAR - (eBay item 260162818416 end time Sep-28-07 17:30:00 PDT)
Thanks for sharing your methods and tips, it makes great reading.
Those Dinkys are nice, but I think you'll be lucky to get more than $100 - $150 for the Jag. You might a similar amount for the lemon TR2 though so it should even out nicely. Diecast collectors are an extremely picky bunch as I'm sure you know!
Keep the stories rolling in :-)

Here is the Ny-Lint Missile Carrier that I picked up yesterday at the sale. I have no clue of the value, there are two on Ebay, both in poor condition, and they want $150 - $200. This one is as mint as they come:
