I used to like Hostess Chocolate Cupcakes before they took the taste out.

The ones they sell now DO NOT taste as good as the ones we ate as kids.

The same thing goes for Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Devil Dogs, etc.

They don't even make the pies that often anymore.

I remember eating a Hostess boysenberry pie once, YEARS ago! I haven't been able to find it since!

It's because they changed the oil

They did that to a lot of products back in the 80's and ruined them.

Were those the ones that used to have commercials in the 70's, where they were the sponsors of 'The Peanuts' specials?

They tasted pretty good, as I remember. Way better than the dry as a brick Devil Dogs

                  Never heard of them.

How about Maria's Galletas (Cookies)? Those are a bit bland, but they are pretty good.

I wouldn't want no Mexican cakes

I'd be afraid they'd put hot sauce and peppers in them

Gansitos are an institution in Latin America...ask any Mexican about it...especially kids...he/she will immediately know...lol.

Wiki has info about them...but shockingly...it's very small...perhaps Mexico should make their own Wikipedia site...lol...

Yeah...Galletas Marias are more geared towards adults...they go great with coffee or hot chocolate...

                        sounds delicious though
There's nothing fresh about a twinkie, They are processed out the whazoo. But they are tasty.

I was partial to King Dongs (or Ding Dongs) as a kid, but now I like Little Debbie's Cherry Cordiasl. They only come out around here at Christmas and Valentine's seasons.

basically it's a softer version of a moon pie with cherry-flavored marshmallow instead of the regular stuff.

But no...Mexican pastries came about after the French invaded Mexico in the 1800s...so no...no hot sauce or peppers in them...
