New York City - what do I do with myself?

So I'm on vacation and got into NYC today-- got a plane and a hotel room in Midtown, and delierately set ABSOLUTELY NO agenda. We have nowhere to be and nothing to do until the plane leaves on Tuesday.

Any suggestions for cool stuff to do or things I might have missed if I stay on the beaten path?

          Go check out DC Comics

          Go skating at Rockerfeller Center

Go to Times Square at night

Take a ferry ride and visit the Statue Of Liberty

Go to the Empire State Bldg. (but don't drop any coins off of it!)

Take a carriage ride through Central Park

          Visit the U.N.

Dude...you gotta go to Katz's...for one of the best brisket and pastrami sandwiches...

            http://www.katzdeli.com/

I never been there of course...but I keep hearing about it in both the Food Network and the Travel Channel.

I hear they have been making the servings smaller though...and their prices have consistently gone up...due to all the publicity they get.

Perhaps Mego Museum resident New Yorkers can give us better info on Katz's...or other delis.

Could be a tourist trap...I dunno...

This sounds kind of like sarcasm but honestly, just start walking.

Spent a week in NYC a while back and we never had a bad or uneventful day. We started one day at the Magnolia Bakery (cupcakes!) on Bleeker then just started walking.

We did the same thing years ago. I was at a convention at a hotel across from Giants stadium and on a whim, we took a bus into NYC and just started walking around. We had a very eventful day.

Gotta Agree...but...too bad this weekends weather is nasty.

FAO Schwartz is always a nice walk through...The Muppet Section is pretty kewl if you want to make your own custom Muppet: FAO Schwarz - Muppet Whatnot Workshop

                      ...which reminds me...

There are plenty of nice places to eat from any ethnic background up & down 9th Ave in Midtown...

...and lots of nice places to eat in the Village as well.

                      Hope you have Fun.

Find a cozy restaurant this evening. It's terrible outside...cold, windy and rainy.

I used to go to NYC every third-ish weekend just to screw around on Friday nights before 911 ... After 911 with the PATH shut down I stopped going.
When it reopened I didn't bother anymore.
