    Hey Mikey,

Ever hear of Vince Mira? He use to play the Pike Place market until he was finally discovered via Johnny Cash night at a local bar. Amazing kid.

The clips from Cash's 60's variety show are great. The released it on DVD recently.

              I like Johnny Cash.

My mom loved Johnny Cash from way back and it rubbed off on me at an early age (he was also on TV back then). When I was really little, I saw a Johnny Cash concert and I don't remember a damn thing about it unfortunately.

My mom said I was sick and almost didn't go but I wanted to bad enough to tough it out.

Grew up listening to country and was also tormented with HEE-Haw. Johnny Cash though was more than a country western guy to me, My dad introduced us to his very early stuff first, and the rest rolled on out on it's own. I just got the last american album, and if you listen to all 6 of them, you do indeed get a strange vibe from them. Too many songs to love, so i ripped them all to MP3, burned them on a dvd and just hit shuffle. Probably the biggest influence on me musically, even though I play mostly Metal music. Johnny, Roy Orbison, and Danzig, weird huh! If you have just discovered him, Boom-Chicka Boom is a really fun album, check it out.

I've been a mild Cash listener for a while. I love Ring of Fire and I Walk the Line. I really liked his work with U2 and his cover on NIN's Hurt.

I saw a special on Cash where Kristoferson called him "a walking contradiction", since he was a very religious person, but also a hellraiser and had a lot of personal demons. He'd flip you the bird and then sing "In the Sweet By and By", with equal enthusiasm.

I think the one thing that puts Johnny over so many other acts, who were/are probably more technically talented, is his sincerity. No matter what he was writing or singing, he meant it.

I'm listening to him as I type this!!!

I really recommend Sarah Vowell's story about Johnny and June, the Greatest Love Story of the 20th Century. Way better than the movie.
