Not anything to do with this threads subject but if this statement is true how come the US has the worlds biggest porn industry.

While individual people may want to watch it and or make it as a society americans like to compartmentalise sex.

We do not have topless public beaches, topless bars are usually pushed away from most comminities with a not in my yard mentality (even if the same township supervisor goes to the establishment in another place)

As a father of the college age girl I am just as guilty of the dichotomy. I like to look at attractive younger woman in the VS catalog and exotic dancers but would be horrified to find a photo of my daughter naked (or worse) on the web

I'm a teacher in Canada. In this country teachers are held to a higher standard, and sometimes behaviour that is "harmless fun" to some is entirely inappropriate for teachers. I was aware of that when I joined the profession, as were these two professional colleagues of mine shown in the video.

The higher standard is there for a reason. We are teaching appropriate behaviour to children, and the Manitoba School Act defines a child as someone who is under 20 years of age on or before the first day of school for the year. If there were no "Children" in attendance then, yes, it could be construed as a harmless joke between adults, but the fact that there were students present puts this in an entirely different light. Whether the children present there were 6, 16, or turned 20 on September 10th, the standard is still the same.

Yes, although they may cheer and hoot at the kind of activities we saw in the video, kids are essentially prudes, and we have to respect that.

Joe90, excellent points! Regardless of who was in attendance or not, with the advent of Youtube and media all over the place, anything recorded can be viewed anywhere these days. Thank you for conveying that, despite what you might think, kids DO want to be kids, and have enough pressure with sexuality from what we see passing for entertainment in primetime reality shows and cable.

I know there's such a thing as 'on/off' buttons and parental guidance.., but it goes deeper than that in society.

The teachers will receive disciplinary action over this. I'm pretty sure that this event will be mentioned in their permanent record, and that they will have to offer an apology to all concerned. However, if they do not have a Permanent Contract with that School District, then they can kiss their careers goodbye. Nobody will ever hire them. School administrators often have the attitude of "Where there's smoke there's fire" and these two clearly demonstrate that they are willing to cross the line of propriety -- however arbitrary that line may seem to non-teachers. When dealing with peoples' children School Districts will err on the side of caution rather than risk a lawsuit.

In my own professional opinion as a teacher whose assignment is to teach Human Sexuality in the classroom, I think these two screwed up. They played up to the crowd and it's bitten them both in the butts... High School kids get very uncomfortable with the thought of the adults in their lives being sexual beings. The interviews by the local media of the students afterwards, as well as a lot of the actions of the students in the video, all point to the kids being creeped out by what happened. We aren't there to be their friends, or to show them that we are human -- and cool too -- we're there to guide them, to be a stable rock in the tempestuous hormonal seas that they're sailing through. I've learned that to most teenagers a teacher's knowledge of Human Sexuality should be perceived as being encyclopedic rather than experiential in order for kids to feel comfortable discussing such topics. Teenagers want to be able to ask an adult -- a teacher -- about the mysteries of Human Sexuality, not watch them engaging in mock sexual domination and ersatz cunninglus. To them that's as wrong as the thought of their mothers and fathers having sex...

Those two are guilty of bad judgement for the bit at the end, no doubt. The suspension and a solid reprimand of some sort would seem like sufficient punitive action to me.

Yeah, IMO anywhere other than in a school around kids, do whatever you want. Doing that with kids watching is a little odd.

I'm not a teacher, but I work in various schools, depending on where my clients are located. I am supposed to uphold the same professional standards as the school staff I'm working with. If I behaved like that at a school function, I would be fired. The start of the dance was in good fun, and just the vague suggestion of a lap dance could have been overlooked. But I do think they crossed a line with the mock sex act.

Like I said before for me if it was someplace else I have no problem but in a school with kids not cool.

My opinion is if I live in the same city and work for the same city and must adhere to code of conduct behaviour than shouldn't the people who teach our children?
Maybe firing is harsh?
But in my work it is grounds for dismissal;And, I work alone...
Now Just imagine that my boss walks in and catches me licking an empty chair seat?
Then again I guess it could be worse I work in a zoo...

This is just nothing, don't turn it into something, it was just a laugh, everyone seems to think it is funny and i'm sure they all then just went back to doing school stuff.

I guess us Europeans have a totally different view on this. To me this was just harmless fun
