    Any stamp collectors?

I was just wondering if i'm the only one here that collects stamps. I collected as a kid and as I grew up, I moved away from them. About ten years ago (I'm 46 now) a friend who had stamps traded me a worldwide starter collection for a 3 3/4" GIJoe collection and I've enjoyed them since. Many members might recall that when I send MM cards to foreign destinations, I ask them to use stamps on their envelopes. Anyway, I was curious if I was the only one, JOHN

When Mego Museum guys send me Museum cards from different countries I save the envelopes because I like the stamps but that's about as far as my collecting goes.

My dad has a big collection which he hoped to give to me but i was not intrested so he kept them for the grandchildren and guess what, they ain't intrested either.

I would imagine it would be tricky to get todays kids to collect things like stamps, they are all emails and ipods.

The only ones I have are the sheets of Marvel and DC. About it for me.
          Never got into stamps.

That's so true. The stamp collecting hobby is expanding like gangbusters in the newly growing countries such as China and India but the USPS is killing it here. Have you been to the post office lately? In most of them, you can't even buy anything other than the Liberty Bell stamps. JOHN

I recently got an Edgar Allan Poe stamp from Mike, but that's because I'm a Poe fan, it doesn't go beyond that

I had quite a collection of stamps that I acquired from 7th grade until high school. Most were unused. I lost interest in collection soon after school. When I was about 22, I was getting pretty serious with a girl and her brother had a small collection so I gave him mine. That was around 1988. Since the advent of evilbay, I have often wondered how much I would have been able to sell them for. Probably enough to boost my Mego collection quite a bit.

I started collecting when I was a kid and my wife also had a collection as a kid that we just sort of threw in a box when were married 18 years ago.

I pulled the stamps out about 10 years ago and started organizing them by country and found that we had some pretty nice and early stamps between us.

I started buying some topical stamps....a lot of WWII, World Cup stamps, and other areas that interest me. Off and on I have purchased a few U.S. stamps here and there and even won one of the lottery offerings for the Wild West error stamp.

I have a killer WWII collection especially from Europe. Many of the stamps aren't even listed in U.S. stamp books but in specialty European books. I also at one time owned some of the holy grail U.S. stamps which are the 3 zeppelin stamps from the 1930's that are worth quite a bit of scratch (I decided to sell them to focus my energies elsewhere).

The only acquisition I have made recently was an old book with thousands of old European stamps in them that I purchased really cheap at an auction and really haven't had time to look through them all yet but I know they are probably worth at least 10 times what I paid for them if I divied them up and sold them.

When my dad died, he left us tons of stamps, books full of them.
He worked in the Post Office for 40 years, and he had some really rare ones.

None of his kids like stamps, though.
I mean, if Mego Hulk fought a book of stamps, Hulk would win every time, right?

Do you have any Beligium stamps from WWII? There are some pretty rare ones that I own. I haven't looked at them for a while but I believe some are foreign legionaire stamps and some are red cross.

My Mom has a big pile of stamp books just gathering dust.
It saddens me to say that we just can't bring ourselves to sort them out.
We're considering selling them, but how can you fix a price when you don't know the first thing about it?
