If it isn't science fiction, it doesn't belong in the science fiction forum.

I'm a little confused by this?If you are talking about the new Rambo movie then you are way off base,I mean what other catagory would this fit in?We have one man taking on the whole of south Asia.Sound pretty far fetched to me.Could be right out of an old Flash Gordon serial...

Right. Rambo would be a perfect example of science fiction if it weren't for that whole lack-of-anything-remotely-scientific thing.

I think 60 year old John Rambo taking on anybody is grounds for fantasy but not sci fi.

I'm with you! I know it might be cheesey and overly violent, but I'm probably going to really get a kick out of this movie! I loved this stuff when I was a kid and seems like I still do.

                    I agree!!

I agree 100% , i'll be there when this comes out just like i was for Rocky Balboa( actually i was there in the crowd as an extra for Balboa). Like someone else said what other role can Sly revive, Nighthawks? Ha !

He emight as well make the cash now. Not sure how well Balboa did, i'm sure he did fine though. And yep this is way far from Sci - Fi for sure!!!

I didn't like the sequels as much---not for the "unbelievability factor" as much as
I just thought the plots weren't so great. The plot for the first movie was just
                      incredible in my opinion.

I have a feeling in this fourth movie its gonna be more about the "brains over brawn"
                      thing again--

and wouldn't you agree that a 60 year old super-marine (or whatever the
heck he is supposed be)--i.e. the BEST "killing machine" that the military can create
could handle himself as well at 60 years old as he did in the first "a bit more realistic"
Rambo movie when he was 30?

The military does a heck of a time educating supersoldiers with strategy
and cunning as they do physically.

People forget that Rambo's "smarts" are a huge defining part of the character due to
the overblown scripts for II & III that incorporated all the FX and other big budget
hub-bub and physical stunts they stuck in there that might've been exciting, but
yet watered down the Rambo character's appeal in many ways.

I think the plot for IV will be better than II and III -- as Sly has had a long time to
manuever with this project---and honestly as much as I love the Rambo character
II and III won't be that hard to beat plotwise if IV is anywhere as tight as the first one

In the end though---I'll still deal with Rambo-malarkey---what some are calling a
"bull crap" or a "cheesey" movie, I call a "popcorn" movie----they are all positive terms
and either you're psyched for a movie like this or you aren't---I happen to be
(I thought Sly did a great job with ROCKY VI by the way)

Dang Sentry---after my ramble up there I checked out a trailer on YouTube
---and they are totally going in the II & III direction--at least "spectacle-wise" as far as
                          I can tell

I'm still happy to see it (thanks for the heads up!) but I don't think this bodes well
for the plot stuff I was talking about above!

No problem man, I think it's gunna be sweet! Rambo=gore! Alot more than what he did in the first 3 I must say from what I saw in the trailers when he shoots that guy with the turret gun, one minute dude's there triggers pulled and the dude is crimson pudding! I was like "WHOA!!!!!!!!!"
I showed my Ma and she said, "Were so there!" What a sick sick woman. LOL! God I love her.
Yeah plot is something for another franchise, Rambo with a plot would be too much for the senses for me. I think my head would explode!

I thought the first Rambo's plot was heads and tails above the other two...

Just out of curiosity Sentry (and others reading this) don't you agree?
(or do ya think the first one's plot/script was just as shallow as the other two)

Eiither way, I'll tell ya two things I love:

                              1) The RAMBO franchise

                              and

                              2) The term "crimson pudding"

Plot quality or not, I'm sure we'll have a great time seeing this movie Sentry!
