Apple ipad. I don't get the hysteria.

I really don't get the tablet craze. It's too big for a portable and too small for a laptop.

Sure, it's a cool new toy for tech nerds, I guess. But I just don't get the near religious furvor over the thing. Yeah, it can do stuff like play MP3s and can connect to itunes but who would want to lug this thing around just to listen to some tunes? It can also play movies but when I'm at home I'd want to watch them on big screen TV and again it's kind of big to be used a portable. I can't even begin to imagine playing games on that thing.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I haven't seen the full demos or anything, but at under 2 pounds it's pretty portable.

Great for people who travel and if it's better than a lap top then it's an improvement I say. The iPhone is freaking amazing, so if it has those sorts of apps and functionality but even moreso I think it has potential.

    Table top computer.

I think the book application is going to be killer.

Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?

The possibility that this will be a marvelous, portable digital drawing tablet has me intrigued.

There's a "tablet craze"? I just saw a story this morning about how Apple was taking a risk with this since overall tablet sales have been poor.

Someone has to compete with Amazon and Apple thinks they have to.

Yeah, books. This will be in my hands the day it's released. Anyone wanna buy a used kindle? This will be great for watching movies when flying as well.

There won't be any risk. This will sell as good as, or better than, the iPhone.

Most people don't understand the near religious fervor we have with Megos! But we still have it!

One site hacked into a video feed that someone had using a webcam from a laptop to show the entire presentation from Apple. I was glued to the screen for the whole time. It looks UBER cool

This will kill the Kindle. It doesn't hurt netbooks so much, but it will be a big seller for Apple, and the money they'll make from iTunes from this will be the big story.

From what I've been reading lurking the various tech nerd sites, the general consensus is, that it's nice but not the end all be all second coming type of gadget. It's too big to replace a smart phone and too underpowered to replace a notebook. I'm sure the Apple faithful will eat it up though and it will be a big seller.

II think it's bigger than a net book closed isn't it? If you on the go a normal small cell and a netbook is the way to go imo.

It's slightly smaller than an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper, according to those who got to hold them in their hands at the venue. That's just about perfect size for me. Netbooks are a pain to try to type and view the screen at the same time with their size. I don't think this will entirely replace netbooks, but it will be a huge seller. Watching movies will be fantastic on the go, reading books (which is what I will use it for 50% of the time), email and basic web surfing, listening to music. I can't wait 60 days, I have to have one NOWWWW!!!
