    1st CD

I remember buying a CD player in June 1988, right after graduating from college. My first CD was:

Paul McCartney and Wings: Greatest Hits

I still have it; "Band On the Run" is one of my all-time favorite songs!

I got a Pioneer CD player for Christmas in either 84 or 85. I also got Band on the Run on CD and some Who singles import compilation CD.

In the mid to late 80s Rhino had the rights to release the Monkees albums and compilation on vinyl, but Arista retained the rights to put them out on CD. Rhino finally started putting out the CDs around 94 and realy did put a lot of work into them with remixes, alternate tracks, liner notes, etc.

That's really, really odd Mikey01...the first CD I bought was "Please, Please Me" also...I still have it......
Before the Internet, I had about 1,000 CDs by 1998....

Later, I turned all my CDs into Mp3s and put them on an external drive. I use all Mp3s now and transport them from drive to IPOD to car.....

I have over 60,000 songs (not counting them by album) on that external drive now; counting what I had plus trading with DJs and ripping CDs from the local library.

I am a vinyl collector also, so I spend a lot of time collecting old vinyls on the side and playing them on the modern players with the new needles that don't scratch records. I love the sound of vinyl. Maybe I am old school.
I am glad a lot of modern artists are making new vinyls as a gimmick.

when i decided i would start getting CDs I went in one of the used record stores on OSU campus. I picked up one on sale - Priest Live.

I wasn't a huge priest fan but i liked 'em and the price was right. I still play that disc occasionally to this day.

I think it was 1987 and I'm pretty sure it was CCR's greatest hits. It was either that or Elvis's Golden Records.

This is very embarrassing now but it was Winger's Heart of the Young.

I don't remember the year, sometime in the mid to late '80s but definetly before 1989 I got my first CD player and CDs for Christmas from my mom and sister. The Byrds' Sweetheart of the Rodeo and Who's Next by The Who. Great starts to my CD collection. I also got a Beatles CD that was about three inches
wide and only had Get Back and Don't Let Me Down on it. I am a Beatles fan but the main reason I got that one was because my mom thought it was "cute".
