Ever give away your class ring?

I didn't want one. But Mom made me buy one. It's pretty cool. our school mascot was the Blue Devils so it has a nice sculpt of a pitchfork weilding horned Satan on it !!!

Anyway this year would be my 20th class reunion , but FINALLY over the weekend I found the lady to end all ladies and gave her the ring and asked her to be my "Offical " girlfriend.

    Better late than never.

        I did give mine away.

I was dating a girl in High School who was the right person....just wrong timing. We ended up going to different colleges and never really broke up....we just kind of drifted apart without any end to mutual feelings.

I never wore my ring after High School and just threw it in a drawer. I started dating who is now my wife in college.

Prior to getting engaged, I met back up with the former High School girlfriend just to talk and figure out why we parted ways without breaking up and just leaving our relationship and feelings unresolved. We talked it through and both agreed that we were right for each other...just really young and bad timing so to speak.

I decided to give her my class ring just as a token of the way I felt about her and to bring closure to a relationship before getting engaged.

She really liked the gesture as corny as it sounds and still has the ring to this day. We have since become good buddies and swap stories about our respective families. We both have a daughter and a son who is exactly the same age and it is kind of funny to share the similar joys and pains of parenting.

I gave mine away to Bay St. Louis in Mississippi about a month after I got it. Standing on a pier, throwing muscles we had pulled from the bottom of the bay. You can imagine how surprised I was to see not 1 but 2 muscles leave my hand and fly through the air in to oblivion. One of them was gold in color which I thought was strange until I looked at my ring finger just moments later. That was 23 years ago, and I'm sure that ring is still at the bottom of Bay St. Louis. Perhaps one day someone will find it?

Look at this class ring. It's worthless. Twenty dollars from a page in a
generic catalogue. But I take it, I drop it in Bay St. Louis for
a thousand years, it becomes priceless!

Still have my high school ring, but sold the college one. I must've been drunk when I designed my college one: I went for a modern look instead of classic, and wound up with something cheesy and slightly effeminate.

Last year, I had a local jewler make a ring for my wife. The jewler gave me credit for the class ring in trade. The wife likes her ring, so I've gotten over the loss I took on the class ring.

You are going to be sorry you asked! I have a funny story about my class ring, but it's a LONG story.

Two years ago was our 25th class reunion. We hadn't had a 20th reunion because the group who was in charge of organizing it had been very disappointed with the turnout for the 15th. I hadn't gone to any of the reunions. I had no interest whatsoever. But I talked to a few classmates who I see often and told them that if no one else was going to do it, I was going to take the lead and organize the 25th. One of the classmates I talked to early on told me that somebody had been trying to get in touch with me, but they didn't remember who. A few weeks go by and I am doing a location photo shoot and my cell phone rings and it's one of my coworkers telling me that my insurance agent called for me. I had no idea why, so I called and it wasn't my agent who called, but another agent in the office. She was a classmate of mine and asked if I remembered her. I told her that I certainly remembered her (she was smokin red hot, and still is, couldn't forget her) and she tells me that somebody had found my class ring and was trying to get in touch with me to give it back. He had been trying for several months and thought it would be an easy thing to do. WELL, he found out otherwise! I'm not in the phone book for one thing. And, even though I live only two towns away from where I grew up, that can be halfway around the world when you are trying to find someone. He knew somebody who graduated with me and asked that guy if he knew me. He responded yes, but he didn't know how to get in touch with me. He asked a friend of his who told him the same thing. The third guy had married a classmate and asked his wife and she remembered me as well, but had no idea where I was. She worked at the insurance agency and by now everyone has given up hope. She's in at work telling everyone the story and my agent says "hey, we insure him!" So, they finally get in touch with me. Now, I hadn't seen my ring in 25 years, so I had no idea how somebody ran across it. I call the guy who has it and ask him "where in the world did you find my ring after all this time". And his response is "I AM MARRIED TO THE WOMEN YOU GAVE IT TO!" Now, I didn't remember giving it anyone, and I still don't, but he tells me who he is married to, and sure enough, I had dated her a few times. I was going to tell him to throw it out but my daughter wanted it so I made arrangements to get it back. I still haven't lived that one down and it was quite the big joke at our 25th reunion, which was a huge success, by the way. We actually had 3 reunion "events" that year and another get together last year and there is a group of about 10-12 of us that get together every 6 or 8 weeks on a Friday after work for dinner and conversation. So, the ring played a small part in bringing our class back together. There, aren't you sorry you asked! Reading that took 5 minutes of your life that you can never get back!

                            Congrats.

Personally, I never bought a class ring or a year book. Just not my thing.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Nice. Good for you. I gave mine to a girl I was so in loved with in High School.
I finally caught up with her on Facebook after 18 years. She is married but doesn't know where the ring went. It was silver with an onyx stone.
Oh well. Maybe some day it show up.

You are one lucky guy. CONGRATS!!!
