Watching him try to sugar-coat it that he did it because of injuries and that he totally regrets making a "mistake" is pretty painful.

Watching the media moralize and condemn him when they were the same ones pumping him up as a wholesome demi-God in 1998 is pretty disgusting too. Where was the scrutiny when we were all applauding him and spending wads of cash to see him?

I had season tickets to the Giants, I rooted for Barry Bonds with the rest of them, saw him take us to the World Series, saw him hit 73 home runs. It was amazing and fun and we are all so proud to be a part of it. There were always whispers and rumors and you wouldn't believe all the ways the fans and media here talked themselves out of believing what, in retrospect was plain to see. Once it came out for sure everyone condemned him and pointed fingers and pontificated. It's pathetic the denial we were in and the hypocrisy that came after.

What kills me is that he's insisting that the steroids didn't help him that much. There's a fine line between good ballplayers and great ballplayers, and I'll always be convinced the steroids were the difference for Bonds, Sosa, Canseco, etc. These guys really make me appreciate Griffey.

A lot of those home runs they hit were into the third row, you know? A little less power makes a big difference.

And hitting 70 home runs in your late 30s? What might Hank Aaron or Willie Mays have done if they'd been able to heal and rejuvinate their aging bodies? Bonds was amazing because the juice gave him the ability to put the experience of a 40 year old power hitter to work at a high level.

What always got to me with Bonds is he never ever sniffed 50 homeruns in his career at best he reached the 40's mark and then no sooner when McGuire broke the record Bonds finds the "Power" to hit 73. I remember just sitting there saying now I know he's juiced........and Sosa hitting over 60 three times Ok NO ONE does that.....

I know, that burst to 73 was so incredible, but no one in the media really said anything. They just went on and on about how he was the greatest hitter in history and we were witnessing history and blah blah blah. NOW they say history is sacred. Feh.

According to the book "Game of Shadows" Bonds saw the adoration McGuire and Sosa got in 98 and it ****ed him off so much because he was such a better ballplayer than either of those guys so he started juicing so he could get what he thought he deserved. He'd a been a sure-fire Hall of Famer if he'd stayed natural, Such a waste.

True now I think he can't ever Confess that he did it because in court he said he didn't.....

Griffey Jr for me is the Modern HR champ.....hopefully I will never hear that he juiced up.

Bonds is the true waste in this because he was an all-time great who ruined his rep when he didn't have to. McGwire' seems pretty honest about it though his claim that it didn't help him is just plain ridiculous. Even if he didn't believe it gave him extra strength, just the mere fact that he was able to play after all those injuries led to his home runs. Of course, I think everyone would agree that the steroids both gained strength and kept him healthy. The thing is, I think he believes what he's saying.

He's trying to spin it so he doesn't look like a bad guy.....and hoping to get sympathy from the writers for the HOF had he fessed up and walked with the truth when he was first asked who knows what might have happened......but for him I really think it's going to be a very very very long wait if ever they decide he's worthy of the HOF.
