Did he honestly think nobody knew? I mean come on, he was built like a pro wrestler.

I think it did it since he became a Cardinals hitting coach for this season. He knew they'd never leave him alone about it. Maybe having Andy Pettitte and Alex Rodriguez come clean influenced his decision. I'm glad he did but I don't think it will help with the HOF.

My thoughts may seem a little "uncivilized" but they're mine... professional athletes are just that, professional. If a teacher can continue their education to get better in their field why not athletes. Now before everyone starts booing me... Pro athletes are first and foremost entertainers with a surprisingly short lifetime in their field. Their tool (the body) can only last so long under normal conditions. If a little juice keeps them in the game a little longer, so be it.

Now as I hear the boos growing... this doesn't mean I endorse the 'roids, but honestly this is the 21st century and those who are going to do are, plain and simple. Regulate all you want but that's not going to stop the behavior. So I guess to wrap up my thought... they're grown ups making choices for their financial benefit and we're willing to provide that cash for our entertainment.

I'm Glad he man'd up and finally admitted. I'll give him that. It's better than always lying about it (Here That Barry Bonds)

I don't like Steroid use because it sends the wrong message to kids...take this and you'll earn millions at the cost of your life. Sorry bad image.

If I were the commisioner and when Bonds finally admits to taking steroids I'd put an asterik over the Single season Homerun record and the all time record......Sorry Ruth, Aaron and Maris didn't cheat when they set their records.

Big deal. You'd be surprised how many athletes that are out there right now that you know or worship that take these things. The only difference now is that they are "illegal".
As long as they're not handing them to your kids. Why do you care?

Honestly, some of those home runners and football heroes of the yesterday's past and hall of famers were probably the biggest steroid users on the planet.

Kids emulate their heroes. That makes it wrong. It's illegal. That makes it wrong. Tell the kids that they can get rich if they break the law and harm themselves. That's a good plan. If it's good enough for super star athletes it's good enough for me...

The guy had arms like tree trunks ... Nobody in this world didn't suspect something.

IMO, it's cheating ... and anything he did during that time shouldn't count.

He should only be known today as a cheater

The big problem besides being illegal and highly dangerous is that it doesn't level the playing field. It is one thing to be naturally muscular and be gifted with height or some other God given advantage but not right when most players are doing everything on the up and up and working hard to increase strength, speed, etc. while someone else simply shoots themselves up and suddenly can out muscle and out run extraordinary athletes.

My brother-in-law has never admitted to it but I'm sure he has used and continues to use steroids to this day. He went from a fairly bony, skinny, teenager to a huge hulk of a person in a very short period of time (he definitely has the build of steroid laden pro wrestler although not quite as big as some of them). I believe he stopped for a while and the muscle quickly became fat and he looked a bit overweight. Then it seemed like overnight, he became a big muscular hulk again so I suspect he's shooting up.

I think Damien can speak to it. Many time it is obvious when someone is using it. Their bodies look bloated a bit and just beyond normal in the muscle department. I have a brother who has been working out at the gym for the better part of 20 years. He is rock solid but his muscles look nothing like my brother in law.

definitely, you can clearly notice a roider from a mile away. You can get ripped or buffed working out hard and eating right but not the way you describe...I have plenty of roider friends and it's impressive how fast they can change their bodies but it's also impressive how fast they can lose it
