Jay Leno going back to the Tonight Show

Is Jay Leno Moving Back To 11:30 P.M. Time Slot? - News Story | Music, Celebrity, Artist News | MTV News

I think that's a punk move by NBC...and big thumbs down to Jay Leno as well.

But I guess it's due to the ratings...whatever.

I guess you really can't blame NBC on this and we probably should have seen this coming. Conan's type of humor (love it or leave it) was an ill fit for the time slot and the ratings are in the absolute toilet. They had to do something. Sounds like the affiliates are practically on the verge of revolt over the debacle.

Of all of them I like him the least. He always struck me as a cold bitter old man. To be honest though, the only one I've found remotely funny or likable out of the lot of them is Craig Ferguson.

Ferguson is the best....old school Letterman rocks. Leno, Conan, and Fallen all suck.

I like Conan's humor better...more quirky...Leno is more old fashioned.

Conan will simply go back to his old late show.

The real big loser in all of this is Jimmy Fallon.

I loved Conan at his old timeframe.. As I did Letterman when he was on NBC in the 80s..

                        It was late-night coolness.

I was a Leno loyalist for years when he was on the Tonight Show (having been a Letterman fan in the early 90s)....Conan was an acquired taste at first but I'd usually catch him on Friday night when I didn't have to get up for work the next day.

Since the transition though, I've only watched Leno's 10 pm show MAYBE 4 times....#1: there's other stuff I watch at 10 pm and #2: it's pretty much a lame version of The Tonight Show, only in reverse as far as the way the segments are laid out.

Conan on the Tonight Show has been a disaster IMO...it doesn't even feel like I'm watching "The Late Show with Conan O'Brien" only an hour earlier...just wrong on all acounts. His humor isn't a good fit in the long-standing tradition of The Tonight Show...he's more Letterman than Carson (Johnny....not Daly). Conan's humor works for him on HIS show...unfortunately The Tonight Show doesn't appear to be that show.

                              This just in....

LOS ANGELES – Jay Leno may get another chance to reign as late-night king at NBC.

The network, contemplating disappointing ratings for Leno's new prime-time show, is weighing a plan to return him to the 11:35 p.m. EST slot he held for 17 years as "Tonight Show" host, a person familiar with the discussions said on condition of anonymity over a lack of authority to address the issue publicly.

NBC executives on Thursday discussed a scenario that would include a half-hour Leno show at 11:35 p.m. EST, sending "Tonight" with Conan O'Brien to 12:05 a.m. and Jimmy Fallon's "Late Night" to 1:05 a.m., the person said.
I dunno....a half an hour for Leno doesn't even seem a lot of time for him to even do anything....a monologue, a commercial, a guest, a commercial and then he's done. Plus, by moving the Tonight Show to midnight what do they do when Leno is finally done with the NBC gig altogether? Move Tonight BACK to 11:30?

And is Leno not doing well because of the timeslot (somewhat) or because of the format of his show and the fact that it's NOT the Tonight Show (most likely)? So moving his current lame show to another time slot may not really solve the problem and further erode Conan's Tonight audience who may not want to wait another 1/2 hour to watch their guy. And Jimmy Fallon seems like the biggest loser in all of this...1pm?! People will already be 1/2 way into something else, probably on CBS.
