Hit girl red band trailers (NSFW)

Is it just me or is a movie that has a 12 year old playing a foul mouth assassin that does some of her work in a catholic school girl uniform just wrong?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjO7k...layer_embedded

Here's a scene from the movie where the father (Nick Cage) teachers her how to take a bullet with a bullet proof vest. The early part of the scene makes it seem like he is talking about something else very creepy.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SjXa...layer_embedded

When I see stuff like this, the little grumpy old man inside of me who complains about how there are no bounds of decency in anything these days comes out. I try to keep him tamped down, I try to invent a so called sophisticated reason why I shouldn't be put off by this.

    You know...

I haven't seen the movie just the trailer...
I like The Professional and that had a 12 year old Natalie Portman with a bit of swearing and brandishing a gun.

    and a few others.

So, how does these trailers strike you guys and gals?

Hit Girl is the secondary character...the main hero is named Kick-***.

        Here's the official trailer:

I for one like the concept...it's NOT for kids...this is an R-rated flick.

            from a story writing perspective;

Portman's role in the Professional was a girl who had her family taken from her and was reacting as such. She feels some vague bond with the hitman character who, in turn, has some compassion for her. It is a trade. She gets revenge and he becomes a little bit more human - not necessarily to either of their advantages. This is, however, a compelling story and one that delves into some psyche other than testosterone fueled impulse fantasies.

A little girl being schooled by her father to curse and kill is not the same sort of storytelling.

I have a feeling you are not alone with your distaste on this one Mego73.

So if the flick is not for kids, why subject a child (actor) to this type of material?

Because it's called acting...make-believe...not real life...young actors are not stupid...they are professionals.

Besides...cursing and shooting bad guys comic book style...is certainly better than Dakota Fanning's rape scene in the movie Hounddog...now that was disturbing to say the least.

                    Ok,

                    acting
                    I would ask again.
Why subject a child to this type of writing.

Because an audience will pay to see it. And the majority of them will suspend disbelief with the understanding that it is make believe, a story. And, perhaps not so far different from the brothers Grimm who wrote about old women who ate children. If the audience has green in their pockets and the need to be rid of said cabbage, so be it. They can question the morality later if it so occurs to them. But for now, let the child be naughty and racy for the entertainment value it gives to the consumer.

It's not against the law to have young actors doing these kinds of roles...as long as the legal guardian is ok with it...and the kid is ok with it...I'm ok with it.

...and it's your prerogative not to watch it.

I will...and if the movie rules...I will watch it several times...including the DVD release.

I never said anything about the law.
Never said anything about whether or not I would see the movie.
But I did say what you said about audiences.

Because the filmmakers are actually respecting the source material for a change?
