Only in America would someone pull a gun to protect themselves from a snowball.

I understand that and I don't believe anyone should be talked to like a dog. I think you and me are on the same page there. What I don't agree with is how he handles it. Yes, there were some (not all) in that crowd that were saying some bad stuff (I would not have said those things). BUT it becomes the officer's JOB to diffuse the situation, not treat it like an afterschool brawl. His actions escalated the matter and he used his gun to garner the result he wanted. That goes beyond what is fair and civil in an arguement. That is abusing the law. He is a police officer and therefore is allowed to carry a firearm with guidelines on when and how to use it. What he did was outside of those guidelines and a breech of community trust.

Elbow room is broadstroking it just a bit. That gun is for very specific purposes. When an officer pulls a gun, it is to protect HIS LIFE, not to wave it as a threat. If you go back and watch that video in the beginning he is waving that gun. Where is his life in danger? It's not. He's just fed up and he's decided he's going to bully the crowd. From that point forward he has incited the response you hear and if you notice when the other officer comes on the scene that crowd runs to tell him about it, not gang up on him too. So what you have here is a rogue cop trying to apply law as it strikes him on a personal level.

Why? So we can go off on how "lame" America is? Sorry...don't feel that way. This one cop with a gun at a snowball fight doesn't hurt
        my impression of my country.

That's really what I should've focused on...but honestly, after only watching
the clip once, I did not notice that stuff.

As I said earlier, if this is the case and he's then going to be punished for it...
then all's well that ends well.

I guiess that crowd just seems a bit too high on their horses for my taste--
thank goodness I'M not a cop with a gun, heh-heh----just kiddin'

After hearing how everything went down...I can't say I "side" with the cop.
More like, I think the "mob of people" were out of line for what seemed
like "taunting" him...and exascerbating the situation, as it seemed...

I dunno the theory on why that crowd rubbed me the wrong way Mike--

-maybe it's because I grew up around a bunch of troublemakers
that always ended up smartmouthing cops we got in trouble with WAY
before the cops even "really" hassled us.

You know during the Boston Massacre the soldiers were getting pelted with Ice and snowballs before they shot. some of the ice even injured some of the British soldiers. I'm just wondering instead of pulling a weapon why he didn't approach them or arrest them.
