Many cops use a gun too often for intimidation because they're allowed too.

Seeing there's white people involved might get the cop a slap on the wrist.

If this happened in a black community nothing would happen to him at all.

You know that's an interesting perspective and one I agree with. No police officer should be pulling a gun over a snow ball though. That's insane.

I know this is a nutty perspective, but I believe 95% of the people who want to be cops should be the last people chosen to do that job.

It's only locigal anyone who wants to carry a gun and chase badguys motives should be in question.

What a clown. I wonder if he was bullied when he was a kid.

I think the opposite ... I personally know a few bullies who became police officers when they grew up.

Crazy. Total lack of self control. He got angry and pulled his service weapon. That is a huge no-no.

This was posted about 10 minutes ago on that clip:
"The protesters are being rude, disrespectful, and belligerent toward the Detective. They even assaulted him with a snowball while he was calling for backup.

The Detective felt threatened and had every right to defend himself and the public from this large, hostile gang of trouble-makers."

I thought it was par for the course that if a police officer feels threatened
that he should do what is necessary to to defend himself.

Either way...listening to that crowd...I hated them.

The cop may have had the gun...but the crowd did nothing to help the
situation. All they did was try to make it worse by insulting and taunting
the cop. Not cool. Not smart.

Threatening deadly force just because a crowd is a bit rowdy is not the way to handle the situation.

Even a patrolman knows not to pull his piece unless absolutely necessary.

This cop is a detective and should know better then that.

BTW, i'm proud to say my father was a police officer and never pulled his gun once.

It's not like it was a Rodney King situation. Sure, okay throwing a snow ball may not have been the coolest thing to do, but the officer's LIFE was not in danger and he was undercover. He was just annoyed that some kid threw a snowball. But instead of him dealing with it, he decided to take advantage of having a gun and wave it. THAT is a threat and that is not a LEGAL liberty police have. A police officer is only suppose to pull his gun if his life is in imminent danger. I think a snowball is slightly outside the realm of possibility here. If I was in that crowd I would have said the same thing. Last I heard people were still entitled to free speech. That cop also shoved that kid so he'll get sued for that too. He should have just shut his mouth and gone on his way. But no he thought he was above the law, now he's toast. Good riddens to him.

I think it's kinda sad how people mouth off to cops like cops are "the enemy"
and they must be derided for being such "pigs". All the free speech in the
                            world couldn't convince me otherwise.

If you have the story right, then I guess so, and all's well that ends well.
I don't think cops are above the law. I just think they deserve some
elbow room to enforce it. Now if he got hit by a snowball in totally unrelated
to law scenario, it's starting to become clearer to me why he was in the
wrong. I guess I still don't really understand the story.

the reason people see cops as the enemy is because our law system has allowed a situation where the police have this sense of being above the law and can do whatever the hell they want. This does not mean all cops are bad, far from it in fact, but enough of them are idiots that it paints a bad picture overall.
