Day 11, a recent acquisition-a jigsaw puzzle of the Hyborian Age map done by Francesca Baerald.

I think I will tackle this puzzle this winter. I'm not a big puzzle guy, but I love maps.

Day 12, today the core of my Howard collection, the shelf of actual REH books I have. The bottom shelf is not in the pic, as it has HPL stuff rather than REH. These shelves have all the orginal Howard stories I won plus pastiche of several characters.

Day 12-you've seen these lurking as the backdrop of a lot of the pics I have already posted. These are the Conan Graphic Short Boxes that came out as part of the relaunch at Marvel circa '18. I have 5 of these, which hold all of my comic-sized Howard comics and a chunk of the Dark Horse books as well. Some of the Dark Horse and the Titan are in a 6th normal short box. These have classic Barry Windsor Sith art on one side and Esad Ribic art on the other.

For day 13 of the Cimmerian September merch and collectibles tour, I present The Gary Gianni Art of Robert E. Howard's Conan of Cimmeria published by Wandering Star. Gianni's work is gorgeous. I first discovered him doing Menter Men because it had a Mignola Hellboy back up in the one shot and I adored his art. Getting this just after the original REH editions of Conan were finally published (sans de Camp edits) by Wandering Star/Del Rey was a source of joy.

Most of my boxes are the reg white, but I have a few graphic boxes-the 5 Conan ones, a Darwyn Cooke New Frontier box, a JLA box and a Superman. In terms of functionality I prefer the plain white. The graphic boxes are more expensive per box and far less sturdy. The cardboard is thinner, so they won't stand up to long tern handling or moving about. They look nice for sure, but with only a few exceptions, I stick to the standard white boxes. If I has the money to switch, I'd go the the BCW plastic boxes, which are sturdier than the cardboard, but they run about 4x the price of a standard short box.

I did make the switch from long boxes to short boxes over a decade ago. As I get older, my back tells me this was a great decision.

                    Thanks for the info.

I get you about the long and short boxes, love the long for storage but love the short ones for tansport. All of my reg white boxed are from the 90s and still holding strong.

You have a nice Conan collection. Looking forward to the rest of the month...

Here are a couple of sample pages from the book...

I like art books, especially those featuring fantasy art and comic art, so these art books hit multiple sweet spots in my collector habits.
