Cimmerian September in toys & collectibles

It's Cimmerian September, 2025. For those who aren't familiar with it, Cimmerian September a reading event celebrating the writings of Robert E. Howard and Conan stories started by Michael K. Vaughan on his youtube channel about books. One of his shows is the Robert E. Howard Show, which won from the Robert. E. Howard Foundation this past year at Howard Days. But Cimmerian September is also an excuse to celebrate Howard's stuff in a broader scope as well. There's been a lot of recent merch based on Conan and Howard's heroes, but most has been high end stuff well out of my comfort zone, which makes me a little sad. So, I decided to kind of appreciate the collectibles, merch and cool Howard related stuff I do have as part of my Cimmerian September celebration. So each day in September (well starting today the 2nd, I missed the 1st), I will post pics here of an item (or related group of items) that I own that is Howard related. I invite others to show off Howard related toys and merch as well.

Day 1 starting with a Frazetta item, a PVC figure based on Howard's Conan painting of The Frost Giant's Daughter, one of the Frost Giants. I picked this up at a Toys R Us on a clearance endcap many, many years ago, either just before or just after I moved from CT to Ohio. It currently sits on a bookshelf at eye level to the right of my computer desk, so I can enjoy it every day.

For day three, I'm going to do something a little different-here is the 1984 Conan calendar with art by Bill Sienkewicz

and here are a couple of sample months from the calendar...

I found this a small local comic con just sitting in a box of miscellaneous magazines and snagged it for like $5.

For Day 4, I'm posting the 4 Convention Commissions of Conan I've had done. All 4 are by artists I know well from the local con circuit. Since there is a 3 image limit, I'll do 2 in each post.

The first is by Adam Fields, a local creator who does Prowl, his creator-owned werewolf comic, and whose been the artist on several Upper Deck Marvel sketch trading card sets.

          zwJu2zw.jpg

The second is a headshot by Nate Lovett, an artist on Paw Patrol and other shows. Nate also did the Krypto commission on the Action Comics eBay Buyers don't seem to fear the E...s TREK Repros! Jam cover I had done with a blank variant. At one of the local shows, Nate was doing a $10 headshot special with all proceeds going to charity, so I had this Conan done by him...

Two more in the next post.

Commission #3 is by Sean Forney, a prolific colorist on books such as Dead-Pooh and others, and artist on the creator owned book Scarlet Huntress.

and last is by Savvy a.k.a. Brian Lattimer, who does a handful of creator-owned titles, and who has done a couple of other pieces I own...He decided to add color even though I only commissioned a black & white piece...

            That's it for Day 4.

Day 5 of the Cimmerian September Merch tour. Today's feature is the only figure in the Conan the Adventurer line form Hasbro that I won-The Conan the Warrior figure.

              z9ld4Jg.jpg

It's carded but someone at the retail level took a sharpie to the packaging, so I got it cheap at a toy show about 506 years back.

The design aesthetics of the figure (not so much the accessories or the packaging) remind me of the earlier Remco line of Conan figures (which is the same as that of the Warlord line and harkening tot he MOTU design aesthetic).

Day 6. McFarlane Toys did a couple of waves of Conan figures, but like the Adventurer line, I only have 1 figure, The Conan the Warrior figure from the Hour of the dragon wave.

                LYUHmBB.jpg

These came out at a time when I wasn't buying any action figures at all, as I had just moved halfway across the country, downsized in prep for that, and gotten married so had other priorities in my spending. I might pick up more of these if I see them in the wild, but I prefer not to buy them online.

I own that entire Frazetta figurines line. They took some liberties with the sculpts but they do display well. SPECIALLY the Conan figure.
                  Wanted:

Diamond select Spider-man hands. Long shot, I know...but ya never know..
