Very very sad. Makes you wonder why Hackman's children didn't check in on them during this time? He had three kids, and I assume they are all alive. Maybe they're estranged or something. But if his Alzheimers was that advanced, you think they'd be keep closer tabs on him.

Yeah, an extremely sad end but, have to admit I'm relieved that there wasn't anything more to their deaths other than being unfortunate circumstances befalling them.

RIP Gene. He did so many great roles. His cameo as the blind man in Young Frankenstein was one of the best scenes in that movie. One interesting fact about his career; Sherwood Scwartz really wanted Gene to be Mr. Brady in the Brady Bunch.
