FANNY: The Right to Rock (2021)

This was on PBS last year, I taped it and have watched it and i LOVE IT! I enjoyed it so much, that once I was done I watched it AGAIN! 90 minutes to 90 minutes!!

FANNY is (not was!) a ALL Female rock band from 1969 to 1975 (2007-today?) That were formed by two Filipino sisters (June and Jean Millington) and set abut making music.

The Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) and PBS announce the May 22nd broadcast premiere and streaming launch for the critically-acclaimed documentary FANNY: THE RIGHT TO ROCK; along with other other great films that shine a light on AAPI experiences and filmmakers.

In their travels they deal with the BIZ, and each other and Male Chauvinism and more. We see their friend since 1971; Bonnie Raitt, praise them for their diligence and see testimony from Joe Elliott, Earl Slick, Richard Perry (their old producer), Todd Rundgren and more.

Honestly, Some of their tunes here didn't "get me", but I dig their spirit and I did enjoy a lot of the tunes here and I am gonna BUY some albums of theirs!!

Check them out! CHeck out the film!

"They were one of the finest ****ing rock bands of their time, in about 1973. They were extraordinary: they wrote everything, they played like mother****ers, they were just colossal and wonderful, and nobody's ever mentioned them. They're as important as anybody else who's ever been, ever; it just wasn't their time".-DAVID BOWIE 1999

I did watch this a few years ago. Also watched a Docuseries on MGM+/EPIX called “Women Who Rock”. It featured many female pioneers of music, including Fanny. Although I thought Fanny should have been a little more prominent in the series.

There is some cool videos of them on YouTube. Especially the Beat-Club footage.

Now that everything is sorta back to normal BF and I have been catching up on movies. Today was his day and he wanted to watch Snow White. So for putting up with my family problems for 3 weeks we did lunch and movie. Since it was during the day we were the only ones in there and the burger/fries are only $6.50.

Another victim of the"Heman woman haters club" that smacked talked this movie.
We enjoyed all of it. Once this gets released on Disney Plus there will be lots of people with daughters watching this and wondering why they didn't watch it at the theater.

Today BF & I went and did another lunch and a movie. We watched the military movie Warfare:

A platoon of Navy SEALs embark on a dangerous mission in Ramadi, Iraq, with the chaos and brotherhood of war retold through their memories of the event.

The movie was good and pretty accurate from what I was told by other military. Makes me glad I was regular Navy. It's a brutal movie but more realistic than others.

I would say if you have a family member who is going into the military than they need to watch this film first, to make sure.

I love that our theater is an entertainment center where for lunch for $6.50 you get a cheese burger with fries.

Bonus they have an arcade and just got in the Guardians of the Galaxy pinball machine.

BF & I just watched Amateur movie & lunch. It was worth the money to see this at the theatre because I would have forgot it on digital. A great way to just forget about the outside world for a few hours + it has Lawrence Fishbourn; that's a win in our book.

Today BF and I did a double feature. We watched The Accountant 1 on Max. Then we and watched a sneak peak of The Accountant 2 tonight.

Seeing the brothers team-up in this movie was a great angle & with some (dark) humor mixed in made it was worth seeing at the theater. Hope they do another movie sooner than this one (almost 10 years).

Christian Wolff applies his brilliant mind and illegal methods to reconstruct the unsolved puzzle of a Treasury chief's murder.

Friday BF & I took nephew to watch: Minecraft

                IMG_20250418_122311.jpg

While kiddish funny if you do not know the basics of Minecraft you will be lost. If the nephew weren't down we would have pAssed on this. Cute, funny, but long.

Oh yeah this movie cost me because I had to get 3 Minecraft shakes.

Today BF & I got up early to take nephew back and watch Sneaks
                  IMG_20250419_104134.jpg
"When a designer sneaker unwittingly finds himself lost in New York City, he must dig deep into his sole in order to rescue his sister and return to his rightful owner."

Voices Martin Lawrence and Lawrence Fishbourn are the plus with this movie. This came out Thursday, my theater told me we were the 2cd group to see this. They are going up against Minecraft. To be truthful this should have been straight to digital. We had the whole room to ourselves.
                  IMG_20250419_104552.jpg

Being a collector, I get the idea of the movie, but unless your I to collecting high dollar sneakers, this movie will make you scratch your head; especially since China is revealing the trade secrets (ouch).

BF and I went and watched Shadow Force
                    IMG_20250508_190834.jpg
An estranged couple with a bounty on their heads must go on the run with their son to avoid their former employer, a unit of shadow ops that has been sent to kill them.

This movie was very good and I am glad we watched it at the theater ( I would have forgot about it). Krondon ( Black Lightning Whale) has a part in it. MOTU action figures (Sun-Man & Andra) show up.
