yes its real... i read about it long before the film came about

lucas new all about it and gave permission... or so i read as i dont know lucas on a personal level

its a bit of a joke thing going on right now apparently in the movie industry they tend to slip in a character or 2, remember et in ep 1
its all a bit of fun

it caused panic on the many star wars forums back when the movie was about to come out, you the usual bitterness between the 2 sets of sci fi fans lol

but if you google r2d2 cameo in star trek you see entries made earlier in the year about r2 in the film, its only now that folks have actually figured out what scene he is in

r2 floating off into space from a blast! in a star trek move! hmm sounds like war to me lol

I think you are thinking of SW Ep 1 where they put ET in as one of the aliens sitting in one of the multitude of pods in the senate chanmber.

I'm not sure if this is true or not but I heard a rumor in Return of the Jedi in the final big battle scene they threw in a sneaker along with all the Tiefighters and Deathstar ... I'm not talking about the special edition ... I heard this back in the 80's.

and in roger rabbit when the cigar smoking baby character runs under the long legged red heads jessicas legs he looks up gives a rude gesture lol but it all happens to fast for the eye to catch
