3) How did an ugly guy like Gene Simmons get so many women? Could he be exaggerating? Isn't Shannon Tweed worried that he is out there boning everyone who has a vagina?
The women who throw themselves at Gene and the like are attracted to fame & money. It's really the women who chose to do this that have questionable taste.
The funny thing thing is though these guys start believing it and forget why the girls like them. I know a girl who did a photoshoot with Kiss. She told me during a break Gene just walked up to her and said "You know, I'm a very handsome man" Aftering laughing about it a bit she told me the only good-looking thing about him was his money!Comment

Gosh, 55 gets you senior discounts eh? I just don't think of 55 as being that old! I thought you had to be older than that to get the senior discount, wow.

Have you heard their solo albums from 1978? Gene and Peter had albums that sounded nothing like the majority of the KISS catalog (the Ace album rocked and, although I'm not crazy about Paul's album, it did still sound like KISS songs...B-Sides maybe, but still KISS songs). Although I actually liked Peter's album, the solo discs really show where their heads were and gives a clue as to why Ace left the band (Peter was fired, that's why he left, but Ace wasn't happy with the music anymore). Anyway, "I Was Made For Loving You" was pretty much a Paul song (Ace was working on ROCK music, Gene was in the LA, and Peter was...well, Peter). I don't think IWMFLY is really much of a surprise when you listen to their whole catalog. It may have made you hate them for a while, but it did you the favor of turning you away from KISS before you went out and blew money on The Elder.
He was the Wizard. It was an Ankh. He was just trying to throw some of his influence into the band and come up with another character that would fit in with the rest and be interesting. Although it wasn't the best idea, it was better than Eric Carr's original makeup (The Hawk).
Everyone here has said "Fame and Money", but Gene was getting with the ladies like crazy before KISS, so I suspect it has a lot more to do with attitude and self-confidence (well, in the beginning anyway, I'm sure being in one of the biggest bands in the world didn't hurt!). I know ugly, broke guys who hook up like crazy. Anyway, the women that Gene has hooked up with weren't all hotties. The band gave him a hard time about hooking up with a grandmother who was driving his limo once back in the day. Does he exaggerate about the numbers? Probably, but I've heard that MANY people have seen his photo albums which are filled with Polaroids of the women that he hooked up with 'in action'
If you're really curious about Gene's 'style' you can check out a video of him online. (Tommy Lee, Vince Neil and Brett Michaels had a 'stolen sex tape' so I guess Gene didn't want to be outdone...he was still outdone)!
The reason that they let Ace sing live is Gene wanted to be The Beatles and all of The Beatles sang. Why did they let him sing live? He was actually better than Peter a lot of the time. If you check out his live solo stuff from the last 10 years on YouTube, Ace is really doing ok at singing these days...not great, but ok. Peter has certainly sounded a lot worse and he sang with the band from the beginning.
