They were following the Disco trend - plain and simple, Disco was hot at the time, so they went along. Conviction wasn't their strong point, making money was and Disco was selling. That being said, I do like " I was Made for Loving You." The sign on Vinnie Vincent 's face was the Egyptian Ankh symbol.

How does Gene get so many chicks? He's in a famous rock band. That's all that's necessary for many women out there. That's why 99% of guys who start bands do so in the first place. Sure possible fame and fortune is nice too, but its mostly about all the potential tail they can get.

And yes I agree too, Ace is amazing.

1.) Everyone and their grandmother were trying their hand at disco by that point. Paul said he was hanging out in disco clubs and saw how much people were loving the music and he thought, "this stuff is easy to write" and did it. From a business standpoint at the time, it made sense. Had they known the Disco backlash was right around the corner, they might've thought differently.

2.) Vinnie was the Egyptian Warrior. I thought his makeup was pretty cool.

3.) Gene Simmons, Mick Jagger, Steven Tyler, etc......not conventionally good looking guys by any standard, and yet some of the most well known rock star sex symbols. Why? Fame and money, my friend. Plus, it's amazing how having confidence and a sort of "charisma" can go pretty far with the ladies. And Gene & Shannon supposedly had an "open" relationship though she tries to claim differently now.

4.) By all rights, Ace should've been able to sing live just fine, but his constant state of inebriation didn't help matters, not to mention his lack of confidence in his own singing abilities. By 1979/1980, his overall performing abilities had diminished considerably due to his addictions. I love old school Ace, but I don't miss him not being here now. All hail Tommy!

5.) I thought you had to be 65 to get that discount, and they ain't THAT old yet wiseguy!!

My dad and mom joined AARP at 55 and got the discounts. Paul and Gene are beyond that age. I do appreciate the "disco" kiss now. Back then I just thought they sold out. I may be in the minority but Vinny's makeup sucked to me. Ace singing live was very bad. The dude playing Ace in KISS now sings better. Just my opinion.
