    I collect coins but am more familiar with U.S. coins than foreign.

    I was going to say with silver selling at around $17 an ounce, you have at least that much in melt value but add to it the collectibility.

        These days I buy mostly Peace type silver dollars, for their silver content. But I've got a nice small set of Roman silver denarii that I put together some years back, and an incomplete set of silver Liberty Walking half dollars.

          If you look in some antique shops that sell coins; you can buy silver coins below melt value.

          I think a Peace Dollar has a little over $13 in melt silver in it based on the going rate for silver but you can find them much lower than that if you look around.
