              >have you ever heard the japanese version of battle of the planets? gag

Depends which one. The faster paced opening was originally the end, and the slow end credit song was originally the opening. Funny thing; I've had the fast paced one stuck in my head for a few days now. "Shi-ro-i-tsuuuuu.... basa no; Gatchamaaaaaan!"

              >the american instrumental version is the best

Which uses incidental music from the Japanese version. That show has some weird history; when you see the edits and different versions worldwide.

              >one has dramatic impact...the other...while lots of fun...does not.

Very true. I get choked up.... every time.... *sniff*.... that ppor bear can't get a pic-a-nic basket....

              ....so sad....

              >Everytime Star Blazers was on I always avoided it.

That's too bad. It's very good; but you gotta watch a few to really get into it.

              >I have seen stills of the cartoon where the Yamato is in space. Kinda freaky

The story is: Earth gets wiped out in the first few days of the war and people move underground. They drilled into the hull of the Yamato (which is on the sea floor, which is now land 'cos most of the Earth's water has been burned off) and converted it from the inside out, so the Gamillons wouldn't realize Earth was building a super space battleship.

              Freaky indeed.

That's a pretty ad-bass lego creation. I thought I had seen em all. Must have run him a small fortune. My only issue with legos is the cost, even small sets are a ton.

                          The new Star Blazers flick...

YouTube - [HD] Starblazers / Space Battleship Yamato Movie 2009 - Promo Trailer

Has a different look...the inanimate objects and space scenes are now done in CGI...but the humans are still drawn in choppy 2D...
